Staycations are a great way to have family fun without the high cost of gas or hotel expenses. \u00a0Here are a few things to consider when planning a staycation in your city.<\/p>\n

\"camping\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Camping<\/h3>\n

Camping in s great way to get away from home and spend very little money. If you don’t have a tent, ask a friend if your can borrow theirs. \u00a0Check for local parks that offer camping spots for minimal nightly fees. \u00a0You can bring your own cooler and even cook over an open fire or on a propane stove. \u00a0Our kids love camping, collecting sticks for the campfire and roasting\u00a0marshmallows.<\/p>\n

National Parks<\/h3>\n

There are several specific dates that you can get free entrance to National Parks<\/a>. Fee waiver includes: entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees. \u00a0If you live near a national park, this is a great way to save.<\/p>\n

Summer Kids Movies<\/h3>\n

Check with your local movie theaters. \u00a0Some offer free summer kids movies and some charge a minimal fee per person. \u00a0These are usually older movies, but seeing them in a theater is a great way to experience it again. \u00a0Also check with your theater for concession stand deals during these events. \u00a0It’s a great way to get out of the summer heat.<\/p>\n

Craft Classes<\/h3>\n

Many craft stores offer craft classes for kids with make-and-take crafts. \u00a0Summer time is a great time to take advantage of these and have some craft fun with the kids. \u00a0Be sure to also check with your local home improvement stores for free workshops.<\/p>\n

Art Markets<\/h3>\n

There are several local Art Markets in my city and many cities have these. \u00a0You can enjoy the outdoors and experience local artists, music and even shop local farmers stands for fresh fruits and vegetables.<\/p>\n

Vacation Bible Schools<\/h3>\n

My kids love to attend Vacation Bible schools and there are several to choose from in our area. \u00a0If they are not free, the fee is usually minimal to cover the cost of supplies.<\/p>\n

\"baseball<\/a><\/p>\n

Sports<\/h3>\n

Baseball teams and even soccer teams maybe playing in your local area during the summer. \u00a0Check with your city for family nights or buy 1 get 1 ticket free nights. \u00a0These are great times to attend the event and not spend as much money.<\/p>\n

Local\u00a0Museums<\/h3>\n

Some Museums have teamed up with local banks to offer free admission on specific days of the month. \u00a0Check with your banks and\u00a0museums\u00a0for more information.<\/p>\n

Community Pools<\/h3>\n

Local School and community centers typically open up their pools to the public during the summer.<\/p>\n

Free Bowling<\/h3>\n

Check with Kids Bowl Free<\/a>\u00a0to see if there is a bowling alley near you participating. \u00a0Registered kids\u00a0receive\u00a02 free games for the summer.<\/p>\n
