I have always enjoyed making bread and rolls, but I did not always do it. I have used the excuse that I did not have enough time, but I think it was more like I did not make the time. Since we avoid most packaged and processed foods now I am trying to make all my own bread and rolls.<\/p>\n<p>This recipe is one that I made many times before, but I have recently adapted it to make them healthier using whole wheat. They are a nice roll and leftover ones make great sandwiches. They are a little chewy like French bread which gives them a little different texture than your average roll. These also hold up well for a few days. the dough has pulled away from the sides of the bowl.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-4\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Turn out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-5\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl, and turn to coat.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-6\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-7\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Deflate the dough, and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-8\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces, and form into round balls.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-9\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Place on lightly greased baking sheets at least 2 inches apart.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-10\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Cover the rolls with a damp cloth, and let rise until doubled in volume, about 40 minutes.<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-11\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 degrees F<\/div><\/li><li id=\"wprm-recipe-30140-step-0-12\" class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><div class=\"wprm-recipe-instruction-text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 5px;\">Bake for 18 to 20
