These are all great ones. Spiderwick is big around here too. And those Cat books–Thundercats one through everything. I’m glad series are big. Keeps ‘em going!
Seems to be great books for my grandchildren. I don’t know if we have them over here. Will have to check our bookstores here.
those are all great picks!! we have a bunch of those at my house. my son loves the narnia chronicles…as do i!! both my daughters adore beverly cleary, the junie b. jones series and…i’ve been trying to get them to read the little house on the prairie series!!
have a wonderful tt!
Great list of books! My kids loved 1,2,5,6, and 13. My favorite when I was young was Nancy Drew. I wonder if it would seem too dated to be popular now?? And I loved Sherlock Holmes too. I think he’s pretty timeless.
Terrific TT!
Hey, thanks for posting this, it reminded me of a few good ideas for my almost 8 year old daughter who is almost _reading_ me out of house and home! LOL

I really love the Ursula Le Guin series - Earthsea. My friend Lynda Sandoval writes a great series for girl tweens too!
Great list. We also love The Ordinary Princess by MM Kaye. And the Anne of Green Gables Books. And the Wrinkle in Time series. (got too tired to keep up the italics). Happy reading!
I never read any of them. Deprived childhood,I guess. I used to read the Tintin books.
We loved those books, too, back when our children were little.
I had no idea there were 2 other My Side of the Mountain books. My son will be happy to hear that.
That is a GREAT list. We only have about half of them - so now I know what to get next!
P.S. Your comment about paying the electricity bill made me laugh out loud - the kids turned around to ask, “What , Mom? What?”
I’m currently enjoying the Junie B. Jones series. Happy TT.
1, 2, 8, 10, 12, and 13 were all favorites of mine. At last! A children’s book list with books on it that I read!
Mine:
13 Hearts
I soooooo love ALL those books I have read them all but two. I have kept all my books in mint condition for my daughter and am excited for her to read them on her own too! She is already reading it is so exciting to be able to pass mine on soon!
Have a lovely Thursday!
Hi, I enjoyed my visit to your blog world.
I stopped by from 5minformoms. I too raised by children on 1 income. I learned to be very created and O so worth it!
Have a great Day!
I’m glad to see your list…I’ve often wondered what books we are missing out on.
Yesterday at a library sale I bought 31 Thornton Burgess books for 50 cents each! I’m hoping my kids will take to them (my dh remembers them as a kid) - or they’ll be heading to eBay! (the books I mean, not the kids)
Can you tell me what age range the Favorite Animal Stories is geared toward? My 10-year-old son loves animals and I am always looking for books he will enjoy.
Thanks!!!
Depending on your son’s reading level, I think the books might be a little to young for him. Has he read My Side of the Mountain the the other books in that series? Those might be more on his level. There is also another series of books called Julie of the Wolves that he might enjoy as well.
The Happy Housewife
A wonderful list. I’m am now starting our collection here, with my 6 year old son is starting to read everything is sight!
Happy TT!!

GREAT list! I have wonderful memories of reading most of those as a youngster…Happy T-13!
I’ve read many of those books. And when my daughter is old enough I hope she’ll love books as much as I do!
I love all of these books and I make it a point to introduce them to all my young cousins and nieces.
