Tackle the Files

Tackle the Files

One major source of clutter in our house is paperwork. I am always hesitant to throw away documents because I never know if I will need them some day. Then I read this article from my friend Kyle and realized I was saving way too much. I decided to tackle our three file boxes. Unfortunately in my excitement I forgot to take many before and after pictures, but I think you will get the idea.

I started with three file boxes that held files, Navy papers, and piano music, all intertwined.

Tackle the Files

I organized each category into a file box, except the Navy stuff – which I saved for my husband to go through. I ended up shredding a ton of documents.

Now I have my wooden file box next to the piano filled with all our piano music for the year.

Tackle the Files

This week I will attempt to tackle this….

Great job. It appears we were an the same ‘page’ this week regarding tackles. I accumalate alot of papers as well, since there is such a fine line between what should be kept and what should be trashed.

I have thrown away things that I have later needed, so now I tend to hold on to papers a little longer than necessary just to be sure.

What a great Tackle.

Filing is my least favorite of things to do. I guess that’s why it is a “constant” tackle lol. Great job!

Great Tackle!!! I have had to dig into the papers too, I think they just breed in the dark. I don’t know where it all comes from…

This is the second “file” tackle in a row. I think someone’s trying to tell me something. LOL

I’d totally recommend shortish baskets (3-4 inches high) to help organize some of the things in the pantry. You’ve got great potential there and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Oh the dreaded file drawers – I try to tackle them between the 1st of the year and after I do our income taxes. I cannot believe how much paper we have in one years time. Great Job!

Love your post & your pictures! I need to tackle my refrigerator, too! But that’s the one job I HATE doing :)

I have the same fear of getting rid of papers. I finally separated my paperwork into current files and back files. As it turns out, I NEVER go into my back files, which are all things I would normally shred. I try to group them by year, and if I haven’t touched them in 2 years, they get shredded. You can keep them in your garage/attic/basement to keep them out of the way. Ugh – the piles and piles of paperwork that accumulate DRAIN me!

Nice work! I have so much music laying around in piles, we could never hope to find something in a hurry. The box looks great. Good luck with the pantry, I’m sure it will turn out just as good!

Thanks for the site. I think I over do it when it comes to the paperwork too.

Great post.

We recently tackled the files from our office as well and I blogged about it (click my name above for more details) particularly as it relates to what financial documents one should save and for how long!!!

This is a great time to clear out paperwork before the new school year and, dare I say it, another TAX season begins!
