Tackle it Tuesday ~ Look Up

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Even though it is winter we run our ceiling fans all the time. I am not sure why, perhaps a habit acquired during our Florida years? Anyway, today the fan was turned off and I happened to be looking upwards at the same moment.

Yuck

Cleaning the ceiling fan would be added immediately to my Spring Cleaning list….

actually I couldn’t wait to add it to the list, I just cleaned it because it was so gross!

10 minutes later it was done…

  1. You are my hero! I keep mine running for that very reason! How does the dust collect & settle on there while it’s moving anyway??!!

Stop on by anytime. I’ll make you a glass of iced tea. Confessions of an Apron Queen: http://anapronaday.blogspot.com

  2. Oh, Boy! Is that ever a job that needs tackled at my place, too…it’s just awful, isn’t it?!

(Great job, tho…you’ve inspired me! I’ll do it today!!)

  3. We just had ceiling fans installed in all of the bedrooms.
I had no idea it’d cause me MORE work! ;) Great tackle!

  4. wow, that was spic-and-span!
wonder how you were able to clean that up? hehehe.
too tiring to be staring up… :D
take a peek at mine! :)

  5. Add this to the list of life’s mysteries. Socks getting lost in the dryer, dust settling on ceiling fans, crayons getting broken by NotMe…the things the plague my life!

Way to go on just cleaning the darned thing right away!

  6. Oh wow….now I feel the need to go look at mine. I always forget about those!

    Great tackle!

  7. Somehow, I also forget about the ceiling fans when I’m tackling the bedroom cleaning. I’ve since made a list of monthly “to do’s” like ceiling fans and blinds. Great job!

  8. I totally need to clean my ceiling fans, they look just like mine. Looks like we’re all in the same boat too. LOL

I think I’ll do this rather than my closet. Hee hee, that’s called procrastination.

  9. I knew a couple of weeks ago that my fans needed a cleaning when I was in my family room and a big dust bunny landed in my hand - it had blown off the fan!

Have fun and be careful climbing up to clean them!

  10. Oh my! Maybe I better check my fans.

  11. Fans are suppose to run all year, but they are suppose to be reversed… Boy THAT will get the dust off fast!!
I always forget what fan direction for what season… you know like Spring forward, Fall back for the clocks. Now if someone could just tell me ONE MORE TIME what it is for the fans!!! Help!

  12. Oh that is a job that always gets over looked. I don’t know why it is that I never think to clean my ceiling fan… Looks great. I need to get going with my spring cleaning…. after I tackle my taxes. Stop by and say hi. Got some fun contests and things going on.

  13. Honey, I should take a picture of mine. I suffer from severe dust allergies so mine only get cleaned when I force my husband to finally get up and do it.

    Great tackle!

  14. I did mine a couple weeks ago. How on earth do they get so disgusting?! Don’t you feel better now? ;)

  15. Cindy A-
I only had a ceiling fan in the apartment we used to live in. We reversed the fan in the fall when the weather got cooler. This brings the warmer air that hovers up high, down where you really need it.

    THH-
I find it very funny that your ceiling fan was a totally different color before you cleaned it…gross!

Great job on doing it now instead of waiting until later. I need to do that with the cobwebs. The reason I procrastinate is because I have this aversion to finding one occupied by its owner…EEEEK! I still need to do it…sigh.

    Blessings!

  16. OH, I forgot to mention one thing…
I read somewhere that a really easy way to clean ceiling fans was to take a pillowcase and run it along the blades. This traps all the dust inside so it doesn’t fall on the floor..thus creating a bigger mess to clean! Just thought I would share this tip. :)
    Blessings,
    Jenni

  17. Looks great! Now you have me wondering what mine looks like…I think I’ll stay in my office and not look. Out of site out of mind! Such a bad attitude! But….my pantry closet is clean now!

  18. Jenni-
Thanks for setting me straight on the ceiling fans in the Fall verses Summer. I’ll try to remember.

  19. OH, I forgot…. which way should the fan go in the Fall, clockwise or counter clockwise???? Seriously, which way?

Thanks for leaving a comment!
