Swim Shirts

May 14, 2008 > 4 Comments

Did you know that skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Several years ago we discovered swim shirts. My kids have very fair skin, but they love to swim and play at the beach. Swim shirts are tighter fitting so they don’t restrict swimming ability . They also have a UPF rating that will give your kids another layer of protection against the sun. These shirts are readily available and have dropped in price over the past few years. Protect your kids with swim shirts.

I lost my 32-year-old husband to skin cancer just three days after the Sept. 11th tragedy. It was that experience and having to raise our three little boys on my own that gave me the drive and determination to help raise awareness about the potential dangers of the sun. I started a non-profit in Darren’s honor (The DLF Foundation) and I started UV Skinz in 2005. We manufacture uv protective swimshirts for the whole family. Right now, since May is coined Skin Cancer Awareness Month by the American Cancer Society, I am giving away a free swim shirt with any purchase. If I can help just one family not go through what I did, it’s all worth it. Thanks for writing your article. (Let me know if I can send your kids swim shirts … would love to!)
