Saturday Savings ~ CVS

This week I ventured into uncharted CVS territory. For the first time we purchased something that we didn’t have any use for, just because it was free. My husband found the deal on the One Touch system. It was on sale for $29.99. There was a $20 coupon in the paper (4/27), the $3/$15 CVS coupon, and $2 in ECB’s, so we ended up spending $5 out of pocket. There is a mail in rebate in the box for $29.99.
We have the potential to make $25 off the deal if we get the rebate for the purchase price. The best part is that I have a few friends who are diabetic so I can pass this on to them for free!

  1. I want CVS!!!! I keep reading about these wonderful, wonderful deals all over the internet but there’s NOTHING like CVS in Australia.

Couponing isn’t even really done here. Coupons usually come via the back of the register docket or in the junk mail and are for things like two for one coffees or meals at restaurants, oil changes and holiday deals - never on supermarket items. We’re left with basically one way to save money at the grocery store - shopping the loss leaders from the weekly grocery store circulars. This is why our grocery totals always seem really high - even after you factor in the conversion rate and currency exchange, we’re not getting anything for free unless the girl at the checkout scans it wrong!

When I read about another free item one of my American blogging friends manages to score, I want to sob…..LOL.

    Cheers,
    Lizzie

  2. you are going to have to teach me all about the CVS thing.. i got the extra saving cards… so….. now to learn how to use it all :)

  3. Be careful, a lot of people are getting turned down on those monitor rebates. I guess the reason people are getting is that the rebate is not valid if any discounts were used.
Good luck, hope it works for you!

  4. This is the second post I’ve read today that is all about saving $$ at CVS - I need to get with it and start shopping there more often - with a $$ saving plan like you and the rest of you smart CVS shoppers have!

  5. Just wanted to let you know that I had two problems with a monitor purchase earlier this year.

First, CVS would not let me use the manufacturer’s coupon because it was on sale and the ECBs that the purchase would generate would make it free already.

Second, when I purchased it without the coupon and then submitted the rebate, the manufacturer sent a rejection letter stating that I was not eligible for the rebate because the purchase had been “free” with the ECBs.

I politely challenged Customer Service in both cases, but was unsuccessful. I’m not sure how so many people have been able to stack the man. coupon, the sale price, the ECBs and the rebate.

  6. I hope you do get that rebate!
BTW, I hope you do take out your ’strawberry’ fabric and work with it–it’s certainly the right time of year for it, LOL!

  7. I have got to try this whole CVS thing I keep reading about. I’m curiuos to know if you actually get the rebate though. If you only paid $5 I have a hard time believing they will actually give you $30. Either way- $5 is great. You could probably sell the box and Ebay and make some money.

Thanks for leaving a comment!
