Works for Me Wednesday ~ Children’s Artwork

wfmwsmall Works for Me Wednesday ~ Children’s Artwork

This week is a “best of” Works for me Wednesday. Here is my favorite post from the archives.

If you are a homeschooling family, or even if you aren’t but you have kids, I am sure you have this dilemma. What do you do with all the artwork your children produce? I have decided that being a military family, and moving every one to two years, we couldn’t save every coloring page and masterpiece the children made for us.

Now I take the very best artwork, frame it, and hang it up. Usually, I hang it in the guest bathroom. Since that is the bathroom that most guests use, my little artists get maximum exposure. I have posted some pictures below.

Notice the toilet seat in the up position… the joys of boys!

In our current house we have an play area set up next to our school (dining room) table.

It seems like the perfect place to hang the kids art.

  1. About the comment on the toilet seat! I asked Gabe if he would teach the boys how to put the seat down when they were finished. Gabe told me that maybe I need to learn to put it up when I am done since I was out numbered. :o )

I love what you’ve done with the art! I have pictures OF my kids all over the house, but no pictures BY my kids.

Now I’ve got to go to Wal-Mart and buy more frames!!!

  3. Love it! It all looks so perfect in your house!!!! :)

  4. Too cute!!!

  5. Such a great idea! Those all look SO nice all around your house! And, in the bathroom….all the art takes the focus away from the toilet seat being left up…right?!

I love it! The guest bathroom is a fantastic idea for hanging the kids’ artwork. (We only have 1 bathroom right now, so I guess that counts as a guest bathroom too, right?) The play area would be perfect too. I might just have to see what kind of frames I can find at the dollar store or Salv. Army and do this at our home too. Thanks!

I can NEVER keep control of all the pictures my kids do.. It is endless… But it is all worth it! I get so many complements on their ability to draw, even the two year old boy. You should see his endless attention he can give towards drawing. I finally invested in drawing notepads. I date and # each notepad that way the art is contained.. Now instead my home is full of notepads :) ! I loved the framed art idea! I have heard of that before. I have heard putting new art in the front of the frame and keeping all the other art pages in back, so the frame keeps changing with art and all the art is stored in it! Maybe I will reconsider that idea, yours looks GREAT!

Great idea! I have a few pieces of kids art that I need to do something with! Thanks for the tip!

    Yours looks great!

Boy can I identify with the toilet seat up! Usually mine is up too and I tell the boys with having the young ones in the house I really don’t want them playing in it so if I find it up and a young one playing and making a mess the older boys are responsible for cleaning up the mess. It has also helped that they are the ones to clean the bathroom anyway! :)

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!

  10. That is a good idea & they look nice too. I have the same problem so I would take pictures of them in a group. That way they have the memory and when they don’t last I can throw later. The kids liked this idea.

  11. Beautiful! I love the color and how you displayed everything!

  12. Linds says:

Good idea! I love it all framed!
