I was planning on starting the weekend off with a frugal tip, but instead I spent the night in the ER. Nothing broken, just one heck of a shiner that is sure to get worse as time goes on.

and it is getting worse. This little guy earned a day off of school today. His only assignment is to sit still and ice his eye!

His collision with a teammate happened just moments after he was made defensive team captain! Motrin and ice for the next few days and he can return to the field in time for his next game.

Oh no! But check out that smile. What is it with boys that they are so excited about their battle wounds?!?
That sure is one brave smile for someone who has one big shiner! Poor guy! Ah, but the things he can now brag about…
Wow, that’s quite a soccer injury! I’m sure glad he’s not hurt any worse.
Ooof. I’m glad it’s a minor injury! Did the docs prescribe anything for frazzled Mom?
YIKES! Poor guy, but what a badge of honor!
Oh wow! mom, it’s gotten worse! I didn’t know he was team captain!
The joy of having boys
… Gabe keeps warning me that our time is coming …. trips to the ER and all
……
boy what a shiner!!!
Ouch! Hope his eye feels and looks better soon!
Hope he feels better soon!
I just love the smilie face watching in the window.
Have a great ER free weekend
Wow now that is a true shiner! The stories he will tell…..!
Oh – poor guy. I hope he gets better soon. Yes – hope you do not have any more ER visits and glad it was not a major injury.
OUCH!
Soccer, right?
Be glad it was just the eye. My 12 yo son a number of years ago had a collision also–on his second or third practice: someone’s soccer foot into his nose. Result: a broken nose, resulting in surgery–which was not a happy time.
Praise God your DS’s eye was not damaged–just a gross shiner.
Oh My! My sweet little nephew. This happened in soccer? And I have been worried about football all these years!
Ouch is right! Hope he feels better soon. I know mine would be cheering if it got them out of a day of school!
Blessings
They would say it was worth it!
Poor little guy! Hope he feels better soon. My dd did something similar in basketball one year.
wow it did get worse!!! poor guy!!!!
Poor baby!
oh! la! la! I hope that he is feeling ok this time.
We’ve got to start a graph chart on “Scanderson” illness and injury. Do you think the HappIER Housewife would have any good suggestions as to how to do that????
Wow!!! That’s quite a shiner!!! Ok. You win on the show and tell!! I think you should get the ‘prize’!!! he he he Just kidding!!!
He’ll be talking about this for the rest of his days. Did he take this as a ‘battle wound’? My boys would’ve!!!
Enjoy the ‘quiet’ day and have a great weekend!!

Ouch that’s quite a shiner he’s got there. Glad it is not more serious and he’ll be back on the field soon.
Cute and gotta love the grin.
OUCH that looks sore, I hope he feels better soon.
I have to say in the second photo I love the little grinning face in the window behind LOL
I’m cringing…owwwwwwww……
Blessings~
OH! OUCH!!!
Awww Ouch!
ouch! that looks like it hurts!
That looks like a badie! Try Arnica; it’s a homeopathic that is excellent for brusing, trauma, swelling, & pain. It doesn’t work quite as well when not used immediately, but would probably still help a lot.
Sounds like a well earned injury! Glad it was just a shiner.
ouch. I actually winced when I saw the second photo! I am very glad football players wear helmets. and pads. LOTS of pads.
why doesn’t that make me feel better about my son playing football?
Ohhhh, poor thing!! That looks like it really hurts, but if he’s anything like my boys, he takes a real weird kind of pride in it, lol!!
I hope he’s feeling better in no time, and tell him congratulations from us on making team captain!! Well worth the shiner, I’m sure!
Have a lovely week,
Shani
