I love warm weather because my kids can play outside without hats, boots, gloves, scarves, snotty noses and everything else that comes with winter. Outside play allows them to burn off all that “kid” energy and my house stays cleaner, although my yard is a wreck!
My children have this amazing ability to take toys and use them for something completely different. It seems they rarely play with a toy the way it was intended by the manufacturer.
Last week they found a whole new use for Frisbees.
Introducing Toad-o-pia

What about your kids? Do they play with toys the way the manufacturers intended them to be played or do they create their own way?

That is so cute! I just wanted to say that I really enjoy reading your blog and I can’t wait for a new post about your story!
Boys will be boys! My son does that too, comes up with weird uses for things. Gotta love it! Especially the frogs on their heads!
I’m SO jealous! Toads on the head! How rad!!!! lol I love toads and frogs.

Just today my kids were using sleeping bags for dresses and a toboggan down the stairs.
Totally cute. I think I’d pay my kids if they ever just “played” with the toys the way they are supposed to! Well, not really. But it is a rare thing that they actually do it.
Um, I don’t buy my kids toy toads;)
Those are some awesome pictures! I love the toads on top of their heads! That’s priceless! Also, my kids NEVER play with their toys the way the manufactured intended, except maybe with Legos
No my dd never played with her toys the way they were ment to be. Which might explain when she finally cleaned out her room (she is 14) we had to toss out a bunch of broken, misplaced, off weird, dirty, stuff that once was toys. I am glad to see that phase of her live gone. But teens tend to create their own odd messes too.
We get toads at my house too. Still my dd will pick them up and check them out. Yes even put the darn thing on her head. lol.
The photos with the frogs on you boys heads are priceless!
lol, I love these pics! My oldest is 18 months, and I don’t think he has played with a toy the way it was “meant” to be played with yet. Of course, he prefers non-toy toys…like cereal boxes and ice cream scoops. Even though he’s so young, I love seeing his imagination taking off!
Oh! He does love books. I guess there’s only so many things you can do with a book
I have to say that my boys were very inventive when they were younger (I really miss those days),they would come up with most out of the blue games using their toys. They could take an action figure and turn it into something totally random,I loved it! My daughter does this some but not nearly as much as my boys did, maybe because she’s a girl I don’t know.
God Bless,
Tammy
My youngest (now 13) has a very active imagination. He loves Lincoln Logs. Only thing is, he’s never actually constructed anything. The smallest logs are “neeps” (similar to droids) and the other items play some role. He also plays a very complicated game (with rules) with coins…the quarters are generals, the dimes are detonators, etc. He has always been extremely attached to his toys and is reluctant to part with any of them. My oldest son (now 16), however, hasn’t played with toys since he was about 8…could care less. He is my writer/actor/dreamer.
That is so cute.
No, mine have rarely played with a toy with its intended use. It amazes me how creative kids can be.
I can honestly say that my girls RARELY use their toys for their intended purposes. Currently, my daughter has turned her bedroom into a “House.” She took her rolling suitcase and has made it her refrigerator. She is using fairy wings from a doll as placemats, and jewlery as food. One window in the room is the kitchen sink and shoes are dishes. One of her blankets is on the floor–that’s the bathtub, of course. A smaller, folded up towel is the toilet. She writes invisible messages in her diary with the tip of a Hannah Montana microphone. I could go on and on.
I do know what you mean. My kids rarely use toys for their intended purposes.
Are those toy frogs though? They look very real! I was just thinking about what usually happens when one holds a real live frog…frog pee—uck. LOL
LOL! What fun!
yes, mine have been known to do other things with their toys, too or even better to play with the boxes they came in.
This is soooo cute! Total froggy fun! I just love the originality! I hope that Toad-o-pia becomes all the rage for kids!
My kids have always been creative when it comes to playing. Maybe because I banned all toys for a while there. haha
After these pics though, I have to say I am glad I have girls! Ewww! LOL (I know, I am such a wimp!)
