Have you ever had one of those days that was just perfect? The weather is nice, the kids are behaving, and you even get a great parking space in a crowded lot. We had one of those days last Saturday.
We decided that since the weather looked good (translation, about 50 degrees) we would go into the city for the day. Most of my kids haven’t been to D.C., and the ones that had been didn’t really remember it too well. We drove into the city and we found a great parking space pretty quickly. We then headed off to the Museum of Natural History.
We spent about two hours there (you could easily spend all day) and then headed out for some fresh air on The Mall.
Then one of the kids had to use the restroom, so dh took her into one of the art museums, while we waited outside.
They liked it so much we all had to go in. I didn’t think the kids would really be interested in the art museum, but they loved it. They were especially excited to find a portrait of George Washington. Sorry no pictures of this museum, I was too busy trying to make sure no one bumped any of the sculptures.
The kids climbed a few trees,
and then had a picnic snack on the grass in front of the capital building.
We had a great time in D.C.
When we returned home, the weather was so nice that we decided we needed to go to the lake and go fishing before it got dark.
It was the perfect ending to the perfect day.

Wow, you have a lot of energy to do all that in one day. Just reading about it makes me tired! Well, I was already tired because we had a big shopping day today. Fishing and museums sound like a lot more fun!
Great pictures, it looks and sounds like so much fun!
Those pictures are great! It does sound like a perfect day!
It looks like you all had a great family day. I can’t wait until my boys are old enough to do stuff like that!
What a lovely day! Thanks for sharing your great pictures of DC – I’ve never been but can’t wait
What a perfect day! Pretty soon the cherry blossoms will be out. I hope you take pictures of them, too.
I loved the pictures of your children! Sounds like a good time was had by all.
Since you live so close to D.C. and you take such terrrific pictures, I was wondering if you are going back to see the cherry blossoms? I went there my senior year in high school and it was a site to see! Back then we dien’t have cameras.
