Not Again!

The boys have lice, again. I am really hoping the girls do not get it. Last time the girls got it and the boys didn’t get it… I buzzed the boys hair as soon as we found a bug, so hopefully this will not last as long as last time.

Halfway through the haircut, he wanted to try out a mohawk, so he had one for about 5 minutes.

The girls are petrified they will get lice again, they are taking precautions…

DSCF1181 Not Again!

I broke out the oreos and the Wii in hopes to comfort all the sadness at our house right now. We were supposed to go out of town this weekend, but we had to cancel.

My nephews had lice last month and my brother made this video of the bugs up close. It is gross so only watch if bugs don’t creep you out.

OH NO!!! (Still not watching the video… haha)

You should try the conditioner. So much easier than all the plastic hats, etc. I hope it is contained and does not stay long this time. I hate those things. I can see why they were a plague!!

We dealt this with over about a two-month span last year..grrr..just the thought sends my heart racing. I ordered some lice-preventative tea-tree oil shampoo and spray on conditioner and my daughter (who had multiple relapses–we think possibly from her bus seat partner) uses them once or twice a week during the school year. I’m not sure if they really help or not but it sure does make me feel like I’m being proactive! I wore the unfortunate title of Lice Queen at our church..sigh…now I’m starting to itch…

    hi
i am a cosmetologist and i couldn’t help but give you some support in your recent lice trauma. Nioxin shampoo is a tea tree based shampoo/cleanser. it will help keep you from getting lice again. it is also tear free so it is completely safe to use on kids and I have used it on my own kids since they were newborns, as it is also great for cradle cap. It was originally designed for people with hair loss and cancer patients losing their hair, but that is truly just one of the MANY benefits of this line. the conditioner is called scalp therapy and i DON’T suggest it for kids because it is VERY menthally and tingles and some people have said it almost feels like it is burning because it is so intense. it really is not burning but the menthol is very intense. so just use the shampoo and you will be fine. also lice can not grow on hair less than a 1/2 inch long. so your boys will be fine in their buzz cuts.(love the mohawk!!)i hope this helps.

  16. Break out the tea tree oil, stat!! lol

Been there before, its the WORST! I hope you get them all sooner than later.

I must say, your children are just GORGEOUS!

  17. Ashley says:

I heard that dog shampoo works really well! (because it has critter repellents)

  18. Todd says:

Ah HA.. So now we know where our family got the lice. You never really got rid of it and passed it along! Liam looks good in the Mohawk.. Did he not want to keep it?

  19. Sherry says:

Oh, no! I’m soooo sorry! Praying that you can get these out for GOOD!!

We deal with this alot. Prevention is the key. Girls need their hair up and use cheap hair spray. Love VO5. Also tea tree shampoo is expensive. Walmart has the oil by the vitamins which you can get for way less & just add a capfull to your current shampoo. I have 1 bottle that has lasted me a year so far but thats just 1 kid. Also way cheaper than the Rid is plain old olive oil. Lather their hair with it & put on shower cap then wrap w/ saran wrap. Leave in over night. Wash in morning with DAWN. Must use it first 2 or 3 washes then use shampoo. I live in SE La and we get lice season twice a year so I’m an expert. Since I started this my daughter hasn’t had it in 2 years. Good luck.

  21. Beth says:

We are just unpacking all the thingd we bagged up from your bout with lice last month. I feel for you.

  22. Erin says:

Ugh! So sorry to hear that…hadn’t watched the video the last time and, since we just watched it today, all are scratching at their heads. Kudos to the girls and fingers crossed for you all.
