Thank you for remembering the reason for the holiday. As a veteran, it hurts me to see so many people celebrate as a reason to cookout or hit the beach and never think twice about the real reason they have a day off.
I respect and hope for the best for all our service men and women. I just wish the world was a better place so they wouldn’t have to put themselves in danger in the first place.
My nephew actually guards the tomb of the unknown soildier in DC, so this could be him-they all look alike in uniform. We are painfully aware of the sacrifice this year as a friend of our daughter’s lost her husband in Afganistan this Feb. We thank all of our active duty military for their service.
Thank you we are remembering the real reason. So many of our military are over seas and we thank them for their service. We are a military family and lucky we have daddy at home this year. Happy Memorial Day Every one.
We will not forget our military men and women, past or present, and honor them all. The only family member currently serving is our 28-year-old nephew who is an F-18 pilot for the Marines (stationed at Beaufort, SC). He gets his orders later this summer…possibly overseas.
As a former military wife, as a mother in law to a service member, as an American, I can never express the gratitude I have for our service members both here on American soil, and those stationed in foreign countries. It is because of you, that we continue to have the freedoms we have, that we continue to have hope to retain those freedoms for our children, and our children’s children.
I fly my flag proudly in the name of each and every one of you, who has defended this country both past, present and future. I fly my flag DAILY from sun up to sun down in honor of the American’s who stand for what my flag is for.
I CHALLENGE those reading this message, to NOT just fly your flag on “holidays”…but fly it EVERYDAY as a token of our love, admiration and respect for those who are out there DEFENDING our right to even own a flag!
THANK YOU for giving me the freedom, the comfort of knowing I am free, and the hope of a better America. THANK YOU for your sacrifices in the name of FREEDOM!
