I'm so glad that you wrote this. Although I am not a military brat, my kids are and will be for years to come. People ask me how I do a year with no husband in the house or near by for that matter... I dunno, I just do. I feel it's the least I can do. I can't imagine what my kids would say. I hope that someday when someone asks them, "How did you do it when your Daddy was in Afghanistan?", they can answer... I dunno...we just did.

What a great post. I grew up a Navy brat and loved it (until I became a moody teenager and had to leave my boyfriend that I would love forever and ever, amen-can't even remember his name today). Most of my extended family still live in the same town they were born in and have never even left the State. I think I would go stir crazy. When dh told me, a few months before our first anniversary that he wanted to join the military, I was overjoyed. That was a life I knew and understood! Being in the civilian world was no fun. Of course dh joined the Army (he went WOC a few years ago, but is not a pilot) and even now, after almost 14 years of being an Army wife, I still have trouble rooting for Army in the Army/Navy game. I grew up shouting Go Navy. Rooting for Army just seems wrong. ;)

This was an awesome post - well written. I LOVE the fact that I'm an Army brat. Love it. I wouldn't want it any other way. I think it gives me a fresh perspective on being a military wife, too.
