ITunes Gift Card Giveaway: Blog Birthday Celebration

1323692 piano keys ITunes Gift Card Giveaway: Blog Birthday Celebration

Do you know that I love music? I took piano lessons for years when I was a kid and in the process developed a love of all things musical! When I was a teenager my best friend and I dreamed of buying an old van, driving to California, and starting a band. We wrote songs, recorded them, and drove our parents nuts with our crazy dream! Well, it wasn’t actually a crazy dream for my best friend. She went on to become a singer, lol!

I’m not very picky when it comes to music, I like all kinds, as long as the musician can sing on key. I’m not a big fan of opera or heavy metal but most everything else I can tolerate. Before my phone broke, you would have found Toby Mac, Faith Hill, Indigo Girls, and Mozart in my music section.

To celebrate my bloggy birthday, I have an $15 itunes gift card to giveaway so you can buy some of your favorite music! Just leave a comment and tell me about your favorite music!

I love Christian Rock – and yes, I’m still a fan of ska so it’s been a blast introducing my 5 yr old to the ‘old school’ Christian ska of the 90′s. Haha! He loves it, and of course, I love that he does!

I like all kinds but I especially love country – some favorites are Fleetwood Mac, Patsy Cline, Lynard Skynard, Garth, Blink 182, The Judds, and on an on. When I found out I was pregnant in 2003, I read an article that said to sing to your baby so he/she would recognize your voice. I sang him Patsy Cline’s Crazy and Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide every day and after he was born, I continued to do so simply because he seemed to enjoy it. When he started talking, he started singing Crazy right along with me. Now that he’s 4, he still loves to sing, and I still love to sing with him.

I sure could use that iTunes gift card to replace the one I used this morning to buy her new album from iTunes!

Music is one of my first true loves. It has been with me as I have celebrated my greatest moments, cried over broken hearts, mourned great losses, and brings melody to the everyday moments in my life. My life has a soundtrack that ranges from Barbara Mandrell (my fave as a little girl) Bon Jovi (Jr. High) Meatloaf (high school), Les Miserables (colllege-vocal music major :) ) to Steven Curtis Chapman and Third Day. But worship music has intertwined through all of these and my favorite songs are the ones that draw me closer to the heart of the Father.

I love almost any music, but I’m especially fond of John Mayer. I could listen to him anytime!

  50. Jenny in CO says:

We listen to Christian music around here. Not the nod off to sleep type, though…it needs to be pretty upbeat, even edgy, to make the cut :)

  51. Julia says:

Many of my favorite recordings were made between 1950 and 1962, despite the fact that more modern recordings have better acoustical fidelity. I even have some recordings that the pianist Schnabel made between 1932 and 1937 that are fascinating listening. I think the performance is better on these old recordings than on a typical modern recording. But I am not convinced that older is better: mediocre recordings issued many years ago have been forgotten for years. Thus, time is a filter that concentrates good stuff. Still, it seems that most of the musicians that I really admire are either dead or quite old.

  61. Sarah says:

I am listening to a lot of children’s music right now because of the three toddlers that run around my house with nothing to do because it is to cold to send them outside. That may change today if it gets up to the 20′s like they are predicting. My favorite type of music is Christian Contemporary. I listen to the radio most of the time but that is just because I do not have much music elsewhere and we do have 2 great Christian Radio stations here.

  62. Erin says:

I have always loved music. Big Band music was one of my favorite styles when I was Younger. I love all the music and movies about Benny Goodman and all those guys. I started learning how to play the flute when I was 13 which then brought me to our Church Orchestra. I met my Husband through music because he was our audio technician. He was the one putting the mic in my face and I was the one unplugging it and turning it away from me so no one would hear me play. That didn’t go over to well with the sound guy. :-) Our home is always full of music as he is always perfecting his sound and My 3 kids love every minute of it. I grew up listening to 50′s -90′s, found out about contemporary Christian in the 90′s when artists had been crossing over into mainstream radio and on VH1 and MTV. I found a Christian radio station recently and it has brought so much new and interesting melody into my life it’s amazing, I’m particularly fond of Barlow Girl, and my eldest has started a deep appreciation of Skillet which usually involves my poor Malibu making a very sad impression of one of those “thumper” trucks, thankfully I don’t have a system so I can’t annoy too many folks when her favorites come on :)
