As you know I encourage my kids to help with chores around the house when they are very young. Recently Cora took it upon herself to “help” load the dishwasher.
She took all the dirty dishes out of the dishwasher and put them in the sink, every last dish, including the silverware. She then took out the cup drawer and loaded all the clean cups into the dishwasher.
I must say I am impressed at her passion for chores and thankful she didn’t put the clean dishes on top of the dirty dishes.

LOL! That is too cute!
Well, that certainly beats ‘helping’ change her diaper again – LOL!
exactly!
I love it! My grandson Jacob who will be 2 on April 2 loves everything about the dishwasher!
Your grandson shares a birthday with Cora! She will be 2 on April 2!
Aw what a helper! You gotta love when their helping puts you back a few steps! lol How old is she? My oldest is 3, and this is totally something she would do….she has been walking by and starting the dishwasher after it is already done cleaning and drying the dishes…SIGH!
Cora will be 2 on Saturday.
My little one loves the dishwasher we start with chores early too. People ask all the time how do you keep it so clean. With 6 boys they have chores that rotate weekly.
My youngest daughter turned 2.5 yesterday. She loves to help with the laundry – and I usually let her on the first load. I sit on the floor and sort the clothes in the hamper. I put the load I am about to wash about 2 feet from the rest of the piles. She gathers up a few items at a time and takes them to the kitchen. Then, I put the pile on a bench (to help me reach it) and let her sit on top of the washing machine (while holding her constantly, of course). Then we slowly load the clothes into the washing machine. When the load is done, I hand her the clothes and she loads the dryer. It takes forever, which is why I usually just have her help with one load per laundry day. We have a similar routine for folding clothes, putting up clean dishes, cleaning up the family room, etc. She is already developing a great sense of order. I wish I did all of this when my older kids were younger. I started way to late with them.
I have a question, just out of curiosity…
Is she unloading the cups out of the basket and putting them into the dishwasher? Or taking them out of the dishwasher and putting them into the basket?
Just curious..
Taking the cups out of the basket and putting them in the dishwasher.
To cute. My daughter is 2 and she loves to help to take the dishes out and help put them away.
These all sound so much like my nearly-3-year-old, who keeps pressing the pause button on our washing machine. For nearly a year now she’s been pulling out her toys all over the floor, saying she’s “tidying”! Now she’s found she can pull a step over to the sink and has started “washing up”, that is to say pouring water from one bowl to another with loads of it splashing over the floor and her!
Oh that is so sweet…. I have been visiting you for a long time. My how she has grown!
Awesome! My son is closing in on two and also loves the dishwasher. He has not graduated to this yet though! Too funny!
at least she didn’t put the dirty dishes away… DH has done that a few times, and it’s always a pain because then I don’t know what was clean/dirty….
April 2 certainly is an important day! My granddaughter, Lydia turns 3 this year. Happy Birthday to all the special little ones in our lives who have a birthday on April 2nd!
