I paid 94 cents a pound for Barilla penne (slightly more, 99 cents, for whole grain pasta). The commissary price is higher right now. Needless to say, I am now the proud owner of 12 boxes of Barilla pasta (we had pasta for dinner, so I cooked some). We can take some to church on Sunday to give away. I am a big believer in memorizing the unit prices (per pound, per ounce) for things I buy regularly. Then, if I stumble upon a deal, I know right away and don't have to check prices and waste gas coming back to buy the cheaper item.
