Quick Grocery Shopping Tip

Here is a little tip I discovered after years of grocery shopping and over spending. When you shop with your list, and I am sure all my readers are shopping with lists :), go down an aisle until you put everything from that aisle (on your list) into your cart. Then turn around and walk back the same way you came. This seems silly, but it keeps you from walking by other items, not on your list, and putting them into your cart.

When I browse the aisles I always put extra items in my cart that I don’t need, and have not planned on purchasing that week. As you can see from my pantry below, I don’t always practice what I preach, but I am working on it.

  1. What helped me last time was ordering on line at Sam’s Club. It is ready for you at the door. But I need to make sure I don’t forget anything.

  2. This is a great idea. I just zig zag through the store, trying to never reeat an aisle. Thanks for sharing this!

  3. Thanks for the tip!

    Thanks for stopping by! :)

  4. I have always went the to end of the aisle which ever way was shortest. I’ll have to try out your idea next week. :)

  5. Yes - I always add things and so does my daughter. I am trying not too.

  6. I have to admit I’m notoriously bad for walking up and down the aisles. So much so that its a running joke in our family.

BTW, I have a lot of shoes but I find myself wearing the most comfortable ones all the time.

    Thanks for stopping by yesterday!

  7. Another tip - put those “non-list” items in the front basket seat and you will start to see how much they add up! Doing this makes me take them back because I realize how much of a budget buster they can be.

  8. I hate going to the grocery store so I always (except if it is spur of the moment) have a list and I do not deviate from the list. My sister makes fun of me because I never know about the “new” stuff on the market. I just get what I need and get out.

  9. How brilliant is that? Thanks for the great tip.
