I lived in many homes over the past several years. Some have been big, most have been small. Because of this I don’t buy items that only have one purpose.
For years I wanted a wok to make stir fry. But, I couldn’t justify such a large object in my kitchen that would only be used to make stir fry, which we eat about once every 2 months.
Then I realized I could use it to make eggs.

And pasta.

I found one at the thrift store for $5 and brought it home. Now I do almost all my stove top cooking with my wok.

Note: My family thought it was absolutely hilarious that I was writing a post about what you can do with a wok. They added the following suggestions.
- Home defense
- Rain Shield
- Portable Toilet (sorry no picture for this one)

And finally a joke from my 8 yo.
What do you call a fly with no wings?
A wok!

It’s great that you can use it for other things too and you got it so cheap!

Funny family! I am now hitting myself in the head. We got a wok as a wedding present and only use it twice a year at best for stir fry. For the last year I have been wanting to buy a really large skillet pan, but I didn’t want to spend a lot. Thanks for jump starting my brain! I am just going to use my wok now. I guess the obvious isn’t always obvious

LOL! I enjoyed the peek into your boys’ creative and witty minds.
I must admit I’m not getting the joke about the fly. *Should* I be getting it, or is it one of those jokes that is only funny to an eight year old?

Oh, wait!!! It just clicked–I get it now! LOL.
Good one.

I used to love cooking Chinese food in my wok. But the lid was dented in a move and then it wouldn’t fit in our cabinets when we moved to Germany, so I had to get rid of it…..gotta love Army living!! This post really makes me miss it, though.
I love seeing all the different uses for it…very creative!

Bwah ha ha ha!
I like the home defense. That is one shady-looking character trying to get in the door!

LOL Oh that’s too funny!! Those pics are great! I had a wok that someone gave me and I never used it – didn’t know much about kitchenware at the time and gave it to a friend who did use it.
I wanted to share something with you. Last week I was asking you what you would do about a leaky basement. My husband and I were both nervous to dig into our savings so deeply, even though this is what it’s for. But still, lol.
Anyhoo…my husband had informed me that he’d just been praying for God to somehow “make a way”…either to pay the money back fast or just give him peace or SOMETHING.
Well, we had our land taxes reassessed and unbelievable to all of us (except God), our taxes went down a thousand dollars this year! And guess what? We’ve already paid half the year, so we’ve paid OVER our assessed value in taxes. Meaning…we got an $800 credit!!! So, we promptly applied that to our next mortgage payment and now can use the extra money to pay for that leaky basement! GO GOD!!! Isn’t He the best?!
In addition, we are saving approx. $70 a month in taxes now.
Woot! Thank you again for your guidance. We knew it needed to be fixed and all, but needed that outside confirmation. Ya know? But I wanted to share that testimony with you since I had talked to you about it.

So glad I found your blog! We too are surviving on one income ina two income world and I love this post! A wok for all purposes. I did this for a looong time until I got our one and only Calphalon pan, which is now used for everything. The fewer things we have in this tiny house, the better!! Everything must be multipurpose! I also love that your husband participated so creatively in this post! Love those husbands!!!

Oh how funny! I totally need a wok now, lol. Thanks for the great tips! By they way, I read your blog everyday and absolutely love your baking recipes. You have several that are dairy free, and with food allergies, that is awesome!!! Oh, and your kiddos are hilarious

Love your families suggestions. I’m feeling like a dumby though because I had to read your 8 year old’s joke several times before i got it.
Good use of the wok though!

I think of you often… moving & all, and Pray for you!

We use our wok as a popcorn popper too. It works great if you do popcorn the old fashioned way.

hahaha, too funny, but I must admit I go googoo over kitchen gadgets
Enjoy the wok!

The rain shield and home defense made me laugh so hard. I love a family that has a great sense of humor!
By the way, I was needing a bigger skillet. I never thought to buy a wok instead! I’ll be looking around for a good deal on one.
