Menu Plan Week of February 25th – March 1

Woo-hoo… February is almost over and with the end of February comes the end of my pantry challenge. I have realized that there is a reason certain things make homes for themselves in my cupboards. It’s because we don’t like to eat them! This challenge has helped me to realize that I need to shop with a purpose, and not pick up items just because they are on sale, because sometimes we don’t like them! So this is my last week of pantry meals… hopefully, next week my menu will be filled with exotic dishes that take hours to prepare something other than pasta and tacos.

We will be out of town after Wednesday so it is a short menu week again…

Monday

Breakfast- Pancakes

Lunch – Sandwiches, fruit, veggies

Dinner – Tacos

Tuesday

Breakfast- Oatmeal

Lunch- Muffins, cheese, fruit, veggies

Dinner- Pasta, salad, whole wheat french bread

Wednesday

Breakfast- Cereal

Lunch- Sandwiches, fruit, veggies

Dinner- Everything that is still in our fridge…

I am hoping that with this menu I will only need to go to the store for milk, bread, and snacks for the trip. That should keep me way below my $600 grocery goal for this month.

Good job staying below your budget! That feels so good, doesn’t it?! Hope you have a fun trip!

I’ll send my husband and kids over. They will eat all your tacos!

Good Job staying under budget for the month and doing so well on your pantry challenge.

Last year, I learned that shopping with a purpose is better than just buying because of the good sale. I found that just because something looks good or tastes good to me might be the case for my family so it is better to shop with a main purpose–”buy food that everyone will enjoy!” Sure I still get food that just a few of us will eat BUT in moderation!

You have a yummy week planned! It is a short week for me too!

Enjoy your week!

Ugghh . . . I am so tired of pasta and rice and realize now that I too buy it on sale and then we don’t eat as much as I buy. My little guy is just starting to like pasta, but at least because of the pantry clean out I can buy some whole wheat pasta to keep on hand (and only a few boxes! Not the eight or ten I had!) for him but limit it . . . hubby and I have not lost any weight on the clean out the pantry diet (I think I’ve gained a pound or two!) so it’ll be back to lower carb for us soon! :)

Thanks for participating with me in the pantry clean out! I’ve realized a few things about myself with going through it – I buy a lot of condiments, can’t pass up a 10/$10 pasta sale, and I don’t really eat white rice anymore. I also have tons of baking supplies and really only bake heartily once a year (for Christmas) and need to limit my baking supplies a bit more often throughout the year (though this may be easier as my little guy gets older!)

I’m headed to the store this afternoon for primarily dairy and some pork chops and cleaning supplies . . . have a great week!

Best,
Sarah

I know exactly what you mean about stuff on the shelves that doesn’t get eaten!! I did a pantry challenge a while ago and it really does help focus, doesn’t it?!

Do you make the whole wheat French bread? If so, could I get the recipe?
