Menu Plan Week of March 23rd

March 22, 2009 · 9 comments

I am coming to the end of my 30 Days of Meals. My weekly planning went a bit awry since we have reached the end of the month and still haven’t had tacos, shredded beef tacos or Mexican skillet. It looks like next week will be all Mexican, all the time.

I am glad I shopped at the beginning of the month for most of the ingredients because now that I am on bed rest, my mom and dh have only needed to pick up a few items here and there each week. Hopefully when the baby is born and things return to normal I will have some new recipes to share. Until then you will have to endure our tried and true family favorites.

Breakfasts

Muffins, Pancakes, Oatmeal, Bagels, Cereal

Lunch

Sandwiches, smoothies, fruit, veggies

Dinner

30 Days of Meals

Whole Wheat Pizza x 2
Shepherd’s Pie
Tacos x 2
Chicken Pot Pie
Pink Pasta
Spaghetti
Salmon Turnovers
Bean and Ham Soup
Mexican Chicken Skillet
Chicken legs
Meatloaf
Quesadillas
Fettucini Alfredo
Chicken Tetrazinni
Tuna Casserole
Venison steak
Salisbury steak

So glad you have helpers! Enjoy all that Mexican food this week…I think we’ll have some on our menu too :)

I really like your idea of laying out 30 meals for the month and then picking from that list as the month progresses. I may have to try that in April. I used to do the whole month by the day, and it was too constricting, so this might just work. We’ll see. Take care!

I shop bi-weekly and I often find that we have 2-3 meals left over, so we just carry them on to the next set. We are quite constricted by after school activities, so some days we have to have a meal that can be thrown in the microwave.

I spend a couple of hours most Sundays preparing meals for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It shortens the weekends, but it means that the kids and husband can re-heat at any time. I never thought I’d thank God for the microwave, but here I am singing it’s praises.

It’s really hard combining full time career with wanting to give the boys the best nutritionally. I also find it hard to be inspired and sometimes we get the same meals over and over.

How do you get variety into your menu? When do you get your recipes from?

Hope the bed rest has the desired affect.

Toni, is your recipe for Fett. Alfredo on here? I just wondered if you used a jar or made up your own. I have a mix but it could stand to be a bit creamier.

I have been craving Mexican lately. I should have checked your menu before planning mine. I only have one Mexican meal planned, but I know it’s a great one.

Glad you have help, couldn’t imagine being on bed rest!

Cheers, Kiy

I don’t menu plan. Too much organization for me. I just keep all kinds of food on hand and buy by the sales and come up with new recipes constantly based on ingredients I have.

Yeah that is what happened to my first monthly menu plan, except we are having lots of pasta dishes.

Hi,
I just wanted to let you know what a lifesaver your Pink Pasta has been for me! Every one of my kids likes it and I found it at a time when they were all getting a little tired of plain ol spaghetti. I use fat-free half and half because I always have it on hand, and it’s really yummy, thanks!

You have inspired me! I have been lacking since getting back in town after being gone a week!
