Love the taste of Starbucks hot chocolate but don’t want to pay Starbucks prices? Make your own delicious Starbucks hot chocolate at home with this copy cat recipe.

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 c water
  • whipped cream or marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 c milk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

In a 2 cup microwave safe glass mix 1/4 cup boiling water, 2 tbsp sugar, and 2 tbsp cocoa. When the mixture has reached the consistency of chocolate syrup add 1 1/2 cups milk and 1 tsp vanilla. Depending on the temperature of your drink you may need to heat in the microwave for about 30 seconds.

Top with whipped cream or mini marshmallows.

Mmmm…hot chocolate, my favorite!! Thanks for the great recipe. It seems so easy too!

I have had Starbucks before, but it seemed soooo expensive! Now I can make it for much, MUCH less. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this recipe. I have been resorting to chocolate syrup in hot milk for I don’t know how many years. This sounds so much better, and a lot tastier. Thank you for the recipe.

Mmmmm…
Dd and I split a Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate while on the road yesterday. Wow! It was good! I’ve never had salted caramel anything before, can you think how to kick your recipe up like that? Just swirl some caramel around the cup and sprinkle coarse salt and raw sugar on top? I may have to experiment!

This hot chocolate will be a BIG hit around my house (it’s Alaska- when they go outside to play, they come back in as frozen posicles)!

BTW, great redesign; I especially love the kids’ graphics along the top!

We’ll definitely be giving this one a try around here- I’ve been in search of an easy, delicious hot cocoa recipe. Copy-cats are the best! :)

Looks familiar. ;-) This is great for a smaller recipe, though. We don’t often drink all of what I make with 6 cups of milk.

Sounds wonderful! I’ll have to try this. We drink a lot of hot chocolate, especially during the winter:)
