Here is the deal…
About a year ago, my husband and I heard about a guy named Dave Ramsey. Last summer, I checked out all of his books from the library and read them… quickly! Soon I begged asked my husband to read the books too. He did, and on August 1, 2007, we began our journey to freedom. Using Dave’s principles, mixed with a few others, and some good old common sense we were able to pay off $11,000 in student loans in 3 months. On October 26, 2007, we called his radio show and screamed, “We’re debt free!” It was awesome, and now I want you to have the chance to scream “We’re debt free!” just like we did.

We really need these. I have two children and we have NO $$$ for college. I drive a 13 year old car with no working AC and only two of the four windows roll down (makes the summer REAL fun if you know what I mean). We need ways of saving $$$ for the things we need and for our kids.

I would like to get The Money Makeover book. My frugal tip would be to plan meals in a way that will allow you to save money by using bulk items. For example, large packages of mushrooms are cheaper at Costco than purchasing small packages. By planning meals such as beef burgundy one night, make stuffed mushrooms for lunch, and makin a chicken casserol another evening, I can use them before the spoil, while saving money at the same time.
I’ve been wanting to get these books to read, but I can’t afford them (ironic huh?). I’d love to win one of these!

We do live frugally but I still wouldn’t mind reading The Total Money Makeover to put everything into perspective. I try to be frugal with my meal planning and my husband and I are content to have date nights “in.”

I have been married for 16 years now and instead of things getting easier financially it seems to be getting tougher. I stopped working as a RN in September (after adding our 5th child to the home) and now we are living on one income. It is VERY tough at times….BUT the rewards of being home with my children are fantastic…something you can’t buy. I need to learn how NOT to be anxious and instead have a plan of attack. Financial Peace sounds like a great place to start.

I am an avoider. We are doing ok right now, and I am working on getting better at dealing with our finances, but it’s scary to start. I have heard SO many good things about Dave Ramsey, and even if I don’t win I plan to take the plunge and invest in his work.
I just finished reading the Total Money Makeover, but that’s the book I would like? Why you ask? Well, since we’re in baby step #1 and trying to save $1000 fast (which is not going to be easy for us) I can’t afford to buy a copy and give it to my sister. I KNOW she needs this book!
I have both of these books - I just need the inspiration to actually START living like no one else, so later we can live like no one else. I’ve known about Dave for several years, and it really is a shame that the husband and I haven’t started yet.

Oh, boy, DO I need these books. My DH is a 2nd year surgery resident, and during his medical school years we racked up a ton of credit card debt. When our son was born, I stopped teaching to stay home with him - but we’re now in a situation where we’re making minimum payments only, and starting to wonder if I will *sniff, sob* need to go back to work next school year to make ends meet. I want nothing MORE than to be debt free, and staying at home with my little boy!!!
would love to read either of these! My main reason? Well, I think that the cashiers at Wal-Mart would recommend my winning only because they now anticipate my “OHMYGOSH” face each time they ring up my purchases…..I can’t believe the price of food nowadays - basics! like milk and cheese! egads!
We don’t need the books because we have them and are working the plan also. We are in week 7 of FPU and have read both of the books before! I am trying everything to be frugal and save money. i’m afraid i have nothing new to say. we’re the typical story of a young famliy, with a mortgage, car payment (just 1), school loans and credit card debt. all of which we need to get out from under. we’re working on it, but i really think we could benefit from these books. it would make our life better…but most importantly it would make our children’s lives better.
Oooh! I don’t want to let anyone know all the bank charges that I’ve payed over the years.

I have heard great things about this book. My Dh is a pastor and I know this book would come in handy (not only for us) but for counseling premarital couples or couples that need help financially please sign me up!
I have been wanting to sit down and go over our finances and make a plan and have been hearing lots of great things about doing finances the Dave Ramsey way.
Right now we need a Total Money Makeover because we have a hard time budgeting and saving money. Everytime we feel like we’re doing well, we have a backslide. After saving up a few thousand dollars and no longer living paycheck to paycheck, my fiance went nuts and bought a bunch of computer crap since we “could afford it.” In the past week we’ve dropped almost a grand on new car tires, an alignment for the tires, gasoline (that keeps getting more expensive but df has to fill up twice a week for the work commute)… anyway… so much for being able to afford the computer. Now we have NO money again because of the unexpected expenses!
At least we’re not as bad off as his parents who lost their home, still owe us a ton of money they borrowed last year, and go gambling all the time and then try to borrow more money from us. I think they need the book more than we do!
I so need the Total Money Makeover!! Three weeks ago, I was completely broke. I had to drain my account just to pay rent. I didn’t even have enough money to buy groceries for my son. It’s very depressing knowing you don’t have anything at all. I need this book in order to become debt free and to learn to manage my money.

I love listening to him on Friday just for that reason. Most of the times I’m crying on my side because I’m so happy for everyone who can yell that.
Thankfully my husband and I have been debt free since we have been married except for the house and our goal is to get that paid of in a couple years. ($130k in 9 yrs with all but 3 of those years us being one income and not the highest income at that either)

I’ve heard a lot of Dave Ramsey, but never read the book Total Money Makeover. We need this book because we want to implement his principles!
I’d love the Financial Peace Revisited book! I read TMM last year and loved it, but couldn’t get Hubby to read it or really listen to me about it. We are working on getting out of debt slowly (just paid off our only credit card!) and want to get our student loans and a loan from family paid off asap. I think if I could get him on board with Dave Ramsey’s suggestions that we could get stuff paid off so much quicker.
With a second child on the way we really need to get a budget in gear. I have heard so much about Dave Ramsey and want to get started soon.

I just got hit with a $3000 dentist bill and need some guidance on how to fit this new debt into an already tight budget!
I would love the Total Money Makeover. We had to open a charge card just to cover my hubby’s root canal, now if its’ not paid off by July, it’s like almost 30% interest tacked on from the initial charge!! We hope to be debt free before then. As soon as we almost had our emergency fund, by hubby lost his job.
We are walking on eggshells right now. Everything is so tight, it’s easy to break those eggshells and fall through. We have the dreaded “commision” as our main income. We could really use some extra help!

We could really use this book. We have had the year from hell. My husband was diagnosed with cancer and was out of work for six months. While he was on sick leave his union were dumb f@#*&s and agreed to a 40% wage cut, and dropping of medical coverage to just about nothing, the cheapest plan that the carrier has. (Almost had a stroke when get got a bill for $8,000 for just one of the drugs for one chemo treatment that he had after the insurance change over, it still isn’t paid off yet)
We are a single family income and have two small daughters. We don’t have family able to help out with childcare, and the cost of daycare is expensive. I am a stay at home mom because of the fact that I’d be left with $60 a week after day care cost were taken out of my paycheck. Not worth working 40 hours a week for just an extra $60.
Thanks for having a giveaway. Our church just had a Financial Peace University seminars - but the 13 week commitment was too long for us. We are in the process of adopting a child and would love to have advice on how to save for this.
While debt free except for a mortgage we are trying to save more since we have two cars that will need to be replaced in the next year or two and are also looking at moving to a bigger house. And ideally, we’d like to be paying cash for the cars.

My husband and I have been wanting to read this (Total Money Makeover) for a long time! Recently, we had a frugal flop to share one car… and then our only car went out too! AHHH!
This is a big turning point in our life–almost as big as our marriage! My husband is graduating from college and accepting a full time job. Investing, saving, getting out of debt, looking toward the future, life insurance, wills, all that stuff are really important right now–and we don’t have a clue what we’re doing! We could use a book!
