When Dad is in Charge of Homeschooling

I was out of town at the beginning of the week and my husband took over the homeschool duties for two days.

I think it went well.

  1. Ok, you are cracking me up. I just called my husband down and made him watch since he’s going to have ours all week. Umm…do I think much school will get done? Can I borrow your nine week plan. This is where it would really come in handy, wouldn’t it? :)

  2. This is HILARIOUS!!! Can I get one of those subs…except I don’t homeschool and my husband rarely goes out of town :)

And, T, that time problem he was helping your son with – that’s like me working with my kids (and I know he was just joking…I sadly would not have been)!

  3. Megan says:

Bwaaahaaahaaa!! That was hilarious. And that math thing where you bang your head against the wall? I totally get that.

  4. MNKristy says:

ROTFLMAO! That was hysterical. I was laughing so hard that my family came from all over the house to watch with me. I feel like your husband does on a daily basis. I have not tried resorting to the alcohol yet but maybe that would help. Oh my, Toni. That was good.

  5. Allyson says:

Hilarious! They did a great job on the video! Here’s a fun question, did they show this to you when you got home or did they send it to you while you were away? :-)

    • TheHappyHousewife says:

They waited until I returned! They tried to send it to me, but I couldn’t open it on my phone! I am glad they had a good time without me :) .

  6. Terri says:

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Your kids are so creative! They did a great job.

  7. Myra says:

This is the greatest thing ever!!! I totally loved it!

  8. looks like they had fun!

  9. Laura V. says:

I’m totally cracking up over here! Awesome!

  10. Amy says:

Too funny! I was feeling bad for your son with his time telling at first!!! Glad they all had a sense of humor about it.

  11. Angela says:

Love this – I really needed the laughs tonight :-) Thanks!

  12. Stina says:

That was hysterical! Your family is filled with creative geniuses. Too funny!

  13. Rita says:

I liked the part about being able to handle “Duggar-sized” families. (I watch that show.)

  14. OMG, that is so funny! What amazing kids you have.
I had to (okay, not HAD to, but wanted to) go to the Spouse’s luncheon yesterday, so I left 3 things for ds to do while I was gone. Three things that should have taken less than an hour to do. I came home 2 hours (and many bingo prizes later) and they had completed 1, and just barely at that. I asked dh what they had been doing, and he said “Hey, this is a lot of work!” No kidding.

  15. Trina says:

I can just hear the collective sigh from all us homeschoolers. I. LOVE. this!!!

  16. Thanks for the laugh, now to show my husband.

  17. Oh my goodness!!! TO FUNNY! I need this this morning..thank you! :)

  18. chanin says:

That is just hysterical!! Must be nice to know that the kids are in such good hands when you are away :)

  19. Lynn says:

Thank you for the laugh this morning. What a great way to start another home-school day of chaos and crying tantrums (by the teacher of course). What was that number again? 1-800-??? LOL

  20. This was one of the most creative and most incredible home videos I’ve ever seen! How funny! I love it! Your hubby and kids are quite the hams! Did they surprise you with it or were you in on it?

  21. Shirley Dunn says:

Great video and great laughs! I’ve only left my hubby with this task one time and it went well. But of course we only have one in homeschool right now. I’ve told my hubby before though that he should have been a teacher – he’s very good at it.

  22. Cherrill says:

That would so be me if I were homeschooling =\

  23. That is too funny. My hubby couldn’t figure out exactly what child #4 was doing in math so he just told him to count to 100 and then he could be done!!

  24. Andrea says:

Oh my word, that was HILARIOUS!!

  25. Becky L. says:

Video was funny but am hoping that your hubs was able to teach the children something. Don’t make the dad look stupid cuz they really aren’t. Alot of tv shows tend to put men down. Hopefully a man, especially in the military, has enough brains to teach a child how to tell time. I’m sure there are alot of people out there that need help with homeschooling. It’s a great way to school your children..been there done that. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Got a problem, ask for help.

(Sometimes kids just don’t get time cuz now alot of clocks are digital so why learn to tell time on a hands clock!) :0)

    God bless!!!

      Becky-
Don’t worry, the video was a total joke. My little guy loves telling time, my husband just wanted to make a funny video with the kids while I was away… I think it is his way of telling me that I leave big shoes to fill, lol!

    • Becky,

Thanks for your concern. We had a great time while Toni was gone. I have to admit that I didn’t get all Toni wanted done on the kids schedule but I’d been gone for some time and decided to go to Chuck E Cheese’s rather than cover all the stuff Toni does. It was a bit selfish on my part but my wife handled it very well. I agree we often make dads look silly in standard media and I thought about it when we did this. We decided it would be a funny joke for Toni if we did it. It was actually fun to see the kids working the video equipment and running the editing software. It was homeschooling in a different way :)

  26. Angela O says:

Absolutely hysterical! I love the creativity!

  27. Nancy M. says:

That is just too funny! I love it!
