It’s National Library Week! Have you visited your local library lately?
I love the library, it is probably one of my favorite places to visit. How can you not love a building full of FREE books!. Many libraries also have magazines, movies, music, and audio books available too. It is an incredible source of free entertainment.
I found a few posts in my archives that might encourage you to visit your local library.
Last week I started reading Jane Eyre and I am hooked. I don’t normally read fiction books, but this one had been on my shelf for years so I decided to give it a read. I am so happy I broke my fiction rule and started reading it! I am also reading Age of Opportunity
. We are going through this book with another couple and I have really enjoyed our discussions.
What are you reading this week?

Jane Eyre was one of the required readers in my High School English 12th Grade class. I was going to read the Cliff Notes but then we had to go to a funeral so I read it in the car on the long ride. It was the best book ever! I think that’s where my love of Classics came from. Now my fave is Jane Austen!
I cannot resist the library. I think it calls to me every time I drive past (which I do at least 2x a week). I visit there at least once a week and always have a shelf full of a variety of books FOR ME! When my children were young, we used to check out quite a few every 2 weeks or so for each of them as well–as many as we could safely carry.
I was just there yesterday gathering my shelf full. The bookstore in our library is a gold mine for reselling books as well if you enjoy doing that as I do.
Currently reading A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg (blogger/owner of Orangette). Jane Eyre is definitely on the list, as are the 12 or so crafting books I’ve had checked out for 8 months. I have access to our University Library as well, the largest in the state, and it’s sooo hard not to go there every day.
Jane Eyre is one of my favourite books of all time. I think I’ll read it again now that you reminded me
Be sure to read the other Bronte sister’s books too.
I adore our library.. really I do. Be sure to consider donating books that you no longer use to your local library as well. When our kids outgrew their board books I donated them and the library was so appreciative. I also donate my cookbooks that I only use a few recipes from – I scan those then donate the book. What a treasure the library is indeed
I agree….our library is a GOLDMINE. Besides books, movies, audio books, computer games, tax forms, and friendly employees — I enjoy the genealogy resources that many provide.
This week I’m finishing the book “Lighting Their Fires: Raising Extraordinary Children in a Mixed-up, Muddle-up, Shook-up World” by Rafe Esquith. He uses many years of classroom experience as a guide for ideas and suggestions of how to mold children into the extraordinary children that they can become.
im currently reading Superfoods Rx. Hubby and I decided to eat healthier this year and this book is teaching me so much. I first saw it in one of the big Bookstores but decided to look for it in the library. AND OFCOURSE THEY HAD IT : )
I read it while I’m having my breakfast and it helps me plan a healthier menu throughout the day.
I loved Superfoods Rx, I need to read it again as I need to get back in the healthy eating habit.
Toni
I LOVE the library as well! I go a few times a week actually.
I’m reading “The Lovely Bones” by Alice Sebold, “Hot Six” by Janet Evanovich and “The Nanny Returns” by Emma McLaughlin & Nicola Kraus
We LOVE the library! My daughters are 18 and 15 and when I mention that I’m going to the library, they practically beg me to go! My only problem is that I’ve probably built at least one branch with all of the fines I’ve paid.
I have very fond memories as a young girl visiting the library. However , having a full time job, a full time husband, and 2 full time teenagers leaves me little time to hang out at the library as I did when I was a child. I love it when a friend recommends a book that they have read and enjoyed. Saves me time in trying to decide what to read next. Next time I stop at the library I will be picking up Jane Eyre! I too have read (and then purchased) Age of Opportunity by Paul David Tripp. It is an outstanding resource for parents of teens.
Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books!
