Math Blaster: Giveaway

Most parents I know regardless of their child’s schooling dread the first few weeks back to school in the fall. Summer seems to bring a case of amnesia for kids when it comes to spelling words, punctuation, and math facts!

Oozamistart Math Blaster: Giveaway

This summer your child can practice their math facts and even learn new skills when they visit Math Blaster’s virtual world. Created by the folks at Knowledge Adventure (think Jumpstart) this virtual world allows kids to create a character and save the universe solving math problems along they way. I set my kids up with an account and they had a great time playing the games. I didn’t tell them it was actually “school” and they didn’t ask!

As with all Knowledge Adventure products, parent’s have access to the child’s account and can see what their kids are doing online. There is even a parent blog where you can interact with the folks at Math Blaster and make suggestions to improve the site. There are multiple levels and the games are appropriate for kids ages 6 to 12. Personally my 7, 9, and 10 year olds had a good time trying out the game and solving the problems.
fractionaction Math Blaster: Giveaway

My favorite game, and one all my kids need to play more- fractions!

I tried out the games and I was impressed at how math problems were presented in a fun way. If your child needs some math review this summer Math Blaster is worth trying out. My kids love computer games, and I love it when they actually learn something instead of just shooting aliens for a half hour.  Math Blaster is a free site, but you can upgrade to a paid version for more games and options.

I have a six-month membership to Math Blaster to give away to one reader. To enter leave a comment. Giveaway ends April 29, 2011.

Disclosure: I was provided with a membership good for Math Blaster and Knowledge Adventure at no cost by Knowledge Adventure in order to test the products’ abilities and give my own personal opinions on it. The opinions I have given are mine and may differ from others but were not influenced by the company or the free product. provided

I used to play the very early Math Blaster games back when I was in elementary school. My siblings and I all loved playing it! So, if it’s still as good as it was back then, I would highly endorse it! I mean, if they made a copy for college-level math classes, I’d buy it so I could “procrastinate” but still feel like I was studying… :)
