Homeschool Fun With Toddlers: Spaghetti

I love, love, love this idea sent in by Randa. You can find more of Randa’s homeschool ideas at Homeschool Roundup. If you have an idea for keeping toddlers occupied during the school day I’d love to publish it. You can submit your idea here.

Take a colander and turn it upside down on either the table or the floor. Grab a small handful of dry spaghetti noodles, which you might want to break in half depending on the size of your colander, and show them how to poke the noodles through the holes. Toddlers love to watch them disappear. Then they can lift up the colander, gather the noodles and do it all over again. Some clean up will be necessary afterwards but it’s worth it.

we did the water with the bowls and measuring spoons and cups today. it was a hit and kept them busy forever. my littlest is almost 2 and i think next time she’ll wear just her diaper. she did NOT like having wet clothes, but she loved playing with the water.
