It’s no secret I love to read and my kids love to read. Last month my daughter read the book Everything on a Waffle by Polly Horvath. She really enjoyed this book so I encouraged her to write a short review in hopes that others might read this book too.
Everything on a Waffle
is a story about a young girl named Primrose living in a small coastal town called Coal Harbor. When Primrose’s parents are lost at sea, she goes to live with her Uncle Jack. Primrose spends her time attempting to convince old Mrs. Perfidy that her parents are still alive somewhere and avoiding the cold Ms. Honeycut. She also enjoys learning from Miss Bowzer, who owns a cafe where everything is served on a waffle. As she faithfully waits for her parents’ return, Primrose and everyone around her find their lives turned upside down.
I though this was a remarkably good book. It was well written and was very descriptive, despite having a bit of a cliché storyline. However, the best part of the book by far was that throughout the story, Primrose encounters different types of foods, and the recipes are at the end of each chapter. With everything from sugar cookies to carrots in an apricot glaze, the recipes are diverse and numerous. Although at times, the recipes can be a little vague, I find it keeps the story real, and makes it even more endearing.
This story inspired my daughter to try one of the recipes from the book. I’m sharing her version of the recipe over on the Ebates blog today.

That sounds like a great book! I’ll have to request it from the library and check out the recipe!
