If you live in a medium-sized city or larger you probably have a museum, zoo, park, nature trail, or others attractions that will enrich your child’s education. The problem is that many of these places charge an admission fee, and if you have a few kids it can get expensive!
Most attractions run specials where they offer discounted or even free admission during the slow season or on certain nights of the year. As a homeschooler, make the most of your flexible schedule and go when admission is free or cheap. Many attractions also offer homeschool days and drop the admission price for homeschoolers. Over the years we have been able to take advantage of things like Dollar Days, Free Admission for the Military, Homeschool Days, Free Admission After 5pm and more. With a big family these discounts have saved us a lot of money and given my kids educational opportunities they cannot get from a book!
Take advantage of these discounts because these learning opportunities make a big impact on your children! My children are still talking about a trip we took to Jamestown and Yorktown 5 years ago! They remember these hands on experiences and it really makes learning come alive!
If you aren’t sure how to find local discounts set up a google alert. Enter the terms you want to search for, such as “free admission homeschoolers” “dollar days” “discount admission (insert your town’s name)” and you will receive a daily email with articles relating to your search.

We live in a small city. They do not have any homeschool days but there is a free day once a month at one of the museums. We also, buy a membership to either the nature cent or the children’s museum each year. It is a real good deal for our family.
Blessings,
Dawn
What do you have to use to get the “free for homeschoolers” deals? Do you have to provide some type of evidence tht you homeschool, other than they are not in school that day?
If you are a member of a local group usually they can give you a card. I have also show my letter of intent to homeschool (that I send to the county), or my HSLDA membership card.
