I finally separated my paperwork into current files and back files. As it turns out, I NEVER go into my back files, which are all things I would normally shred. I try to group them by year, and if I haven't touched them in 2 years, they get shredded. You can keep them in your garage/attic/basement to keep them out of the way. Ugh - the piles and piles of paperwork that accumulate DRAIN me! I have the same fear of getting rid of papers. I finally separated my paperwork into current files and back files.
