Stuff: Organized in 365

Stuff

I’m guessing you have too much of it. I do.

Find 5 things in your home, car, purse, pockets, backyard, etc… that you can toss.

Right now.

It will take you less than 5 minutes. Promise.

Let’s go!

Oh and actually get rid of it. Don’t put it in a pile for later, or you’ll just have more stuff tomorrow.

Many of you have asked how you can participate. You can submit your tip below or if you need tips you can subscribe to my FREE daily email list and have it delivered to your inbox every day!

  4. Leah says:

A tip that helps me greatly: When I open the mail, I file or throw away every piece of mail I open. If I don’t just stick it somewhere, there is less to sort through later. :-)

I HATE mail and paperwork of any kind! Piles and piles of it on my desk, in boxes and walmart bags…it’s a disaster! I do not want to deal with it, but it’s got to go! I need help! I am a very organized person everywhere else, but when it comes to paperwork, I fail hugely. :(

  5. Brenda says:

I have a stack of old and current magazines and they have to go, probably have 40.

  6. Shannon says:

Well, I did it! It wasn’t big stuff, but it was stuff that needed to go! Thanks so much! Looking forward to future projects!

  7. Vicki says:

Now, do I have to toss my stuff, or can I just throw away the junk that family members leave lying around? :)

  8. Claire says:

    Me likey this!

  9. Briana says:

Did it by giving stuff away on Freecycle!!

  10. What a great idea!! THANKS!

  11. Heather says:

Yucky tub toys, phone book, carpet remnants, old school papers, just need one more!

  12. Angela Wimbish says:

Awesome Heather! I am sooooo heading upstairs right now to get rid of the tub toys! For goodness sakes my youngest is SIX…. she takes SHOWERS!!! And Happy, Thanks a Million! Looking forward to it!

  13. Stacy says:

I put stuff on our free cart at work once or twice a week. It’s an easy way for me to get rid of a couple of items at a time while knowing that some of the families at the preschool I work at can use them.
The best tip I can give…when you get new stuff…give away something. Oh…and learn to live with less…

  14. June says:

I have a garbage can right by the front door for sorting out the mail so the stuff gets tossed right away! Speaking of tossing, I have a (mountain) pile of kids school papers on my kitchen table I need to go through, lol. Haven’t eaten at the kitchen table for a couple of days because of it, sheesh! Love the tips, keep them coming!

  15. Traci Best says:

I just put a PILE of homeschool workbooks into the paper recycle basket. (Note to self to take that to the recycle dumpster later this week!) That freed up one whole shelf in the school room!

  16. Kristin says:

    2 magazines
    An expired coupon
    Incomplete Set of press-on nails
    Box of cookies from Christmas

I even got my daughters to participate!! (and will have my hubby do the same when he gets home) woohoo!!

  17. kathleen says:

I did this when I woke up today before I even got this email. Maybe I should add this to my morning routine then I would have much less pile up.

  18. tawnee says:

    Great. I’m in.
    Some old costume jewelry
    The gingerbread house
    Expired coupons in organizer
    Old tub toys (thanks Angela)
    A bag of old newspapers
    Yay!

  19. Penny T. says:

Consider freecycling your things you no longer need if you do not donate them to charity. Freecycle helps keep our landfills from overflowing… you can find freecycle on yahoogroups. I just discovered this challenge in my email and I’m going to be participating with everyone. I need to simplify and organize at the same time this year, though.

  20. Michelle says:

Getting ready to do this now.
    Old mail
A few almost empty bottles of shampoo, conditioner, hair gel, etc from the bathroom….I’m not sure why I feel the need to save these things….I don’t even think I can get any more out of them lol
Plastic containers from, cool whip, margarine, etc in the kitchen that I don’t need and are filling up my cupboards.

I really need to stop saving things that “I might need someday for something” lol

  21. Susan says:

I did it! This morning I found 5 things to throw away and then I found 5 more! It was great! I love your tips! Keep them coming please!

  22. melissa says:

My neighbor has a friend that works at a shelter. they are always in need of blankets, bags, or even personal hygene items. there are children that would love small toys…nothing bigger than they could carry in a purse or bag. this one has a table the people can visit and just take what they need. i am sure most states have something similar.
