Sew Crafty ~ The Machine is in the Shop

sewcraftybutton Sew Crafty ~ The Machine is in the Shop

Thank you all for your great sewing machine advice last week. I ended up taking my machine to a different shop to be repaired. From what the man said, my tension was definitely not put back together correctly by the last repair shop. I am frustrated, but for the most part glad that I hopefully will have a working machine in the next day or two.

Here is the project I was working on when my tension bit the dust. It is a dress for my 2 year old, to match her big sisters. It is almost finished, except for the buttons. I don’t really like the way it turned out, it looks a little too much like a kimono. I should have used another fabric to break up the pattern like I did in her sister’s dress.

Here is a picture of the almost finished dress…

Here is a picture of the dress and skirt I made last year that this dress is supposed to match.

Those are beautiful. You did a great job on them. Sorry to hear your still having machine troubles.

  2. Debbie J. says:

The girls will be so cute with their matching dresses. Good Job! I know you will be glad when the machine is back. I’m praying mine won’t bite the dust! Its pretty old. (like its owner) Mine does need cleaning and oiling. I keep putting it off. You’ve reminded me that I should do that.

Boy, am I out of place–I’ve never sewn a stitch. I can appreciate craftsmanship, though, and I love the matching dress and skirt.

I think the dresses are sweet! It doesn’t look like a kimono to me, but if you think it does, what about a cute applique on the bodice?
I love that the colors look like sherbet!

The girls look so cute together. I love the fabric colors!

That fabric is so very pretty! I know you’ll be so relieved to get your machine back and have it working properly.

  7. You are doing great work ! I wonder if some accessories or another layer would do the trick. But you are talking to someone who doesn’t really know what she is doing with my lack of sewing skills. [0;

Thanks for the deer tip. I will have to put something there. [0=

You do beautiful work. I just received an old 1978 sewing machine. I’ve never made anything before. My dd really wants to learn, so here we go!

Oh that matches so well and the differences in styles and ages are perfect. I am sorry your tension is giving you such fits. I hope you find a NEW person to help you with it. If not, I pray the Lord blesses your talents with a new machine.

I think this dress looks very pretty! I love your April Grocery budget count down. I wish you blessings with this as it is hard to do in a normal economy.

I love it! I’ve never used a sewing machine but I’d like to start. Do you have a recommendation for a good beginner’s machine?

Hi, again! Thanks for the sweet comment on the dress I’m making!
