Mr. Beams Ceiling Light: Review and Giveaway

One of the things I LOVED about our house when we first looked at it was that it had two pantries. Since I buy most of our food in bulk, having a good storage space is important. In Maryland we had our basement, but you can’t really keep certain foods in a hot garage, which is what we have in Florida.

The two pantries was a great selling point for our new house but after we moved in I realized that our second pantry didn’t have a light. It had a light, but it was a battery powered light bulb that had kind of imploded on the inside. I set out to Home Depot to see if I could find a replacement. I didn’t find what I wanted and when I returned home there was an email from the folks at Mr. Beams asking if I wanted to try out their new ceiling light. Of course I said yes!

The ceiling light is compact and runs off of batteries. It has an LED light so the batteries should last a very long time. My favorite it feature is that it is motion activated and shuts off after 30 seconds if there is no motion. This is a bonus for me because my children are always “forgetting” to turn off the lights. It is super easy to install, my 14 year old installed ours, and works great.

My pantry (which is currently holding games and kitchen odds and ends) is about 6 feet deep and 12 feet tall. The Mr. Beams Ceiling Light does a great job of lighting up the closet even though it is big.

I NEED THIS!!! We also moved to a new house recently, and none of the rooms on the main level have ceiling fixtures except for the kitchen and baths. Crazy! I hate to put floor lamps in all the rooms because of all my little kids running around, so this seems like a perfect option. Thanks!

  14. Siri says:

For some crazy reason, our hallway doesn’t have a light, and in our hallway is our coat closet, which also doesn’t have a light. Who knows what may be lurking in there, I can’t see to find out! Would love to have a Mr. Beams for that space!

  15. Julie says:

  17. Ashlee says:

So many places this little guy could go. Love that it shuts off on its own.

  18. kathleen says:

what i cool concept. i didn’t know this existed!

  19. Teresa says:

I’d love one! There aren’t any overhead lights in my apartment and lamps just don’t do the trick sometimes

  20. Pam says:

This sounds fantastic. I’d love one.

  21. Erin B says:

I love this product! I would love it for my closet! Unfortunately, it is a bit pricey for our fixed budget :( Thanks for offering this as a giveaway!

  22. Amy says:

I tried to find something at HD & other home improvement stores too and wasn’t satisfied. This may be just what I am looking to use in my house. Thanks!

  23. Coralee says:

We have a few closets that don’t have outlets either – this would be a great solution – sounds like the batteries would last a lot longer than other ones we’ve tried.

  24. Rachel R. says:

I need 2 of these. Our trailer has nice tiny walk in (step into) closets. Which are placed at an angle away from windows so that they are always super dark! It would be nice to see what we are pulling out before we extract ourselves from the closet. :)

  25. Suzanne says:

Thanks for the giveaway. Most of our closets don’t have lights in them (what were the builders thinking?). So, this would be quite handy in my house. =)

  26. blossomteacher says:

One of these would be lovely in my entry…strange, I know, but the living room light isn’t strong, and the switch is across the room, so when we get home after dark, it is a pain to get in the door and across the room!

  27. Kendra R. says:

I would use put it by my bed so I can have a light at night and not have to get out of a nice warm bed to turn it off after I finish unwinding.

  28. Kathryn says:

This would be great for a closet or pantry.

  29. stacy says:

I needs omething like this for my hall closet.

  30. Jennifer says:

This would be perfect for my pantry. I got one of those “press-on/press-off” lights for my pantry, and it isn’t nearly bright enough for even the one small space it’s near (unfortunately – I asked my husband to put it at the top of the pantry and he thought I meant between the top and 2nd shelf). I need to SEE in there!

  31. Chelle W says:

This would be the perfect solution for our little guys bedroom! While we have a ceiling light in there, he is currently scared of the dark and every time he wants to go get something from his room one of us has to go down and turn the light on for him. With this he could run in there himself and the light would automatically turn itself on.

  32. Stephanie says:

My “everything” closet – gift wrap, gifts, seasonal decor_ is in terrible need of an overhead light! I can only find things in there when I have the afternoon sun coming in the room!!

  33. Dawn says:

This would be prefect for our master bedroom closet, which has no light. Thanks so much!

  34. Sheila Laurence says:

    That looks very handy!

  35. Annette says:

I so could use one of these in several places around.

  36. Natalie says:

This would be great. We have several closets that could use a light. Thanks for the givewaway!

  37. Amanda Y. says:

I wish I had a pantry let alone 2! But I could definitely use a light like this for our hall closet, which currently has none (and that’s miserable!)

  38. Christina H says:

I could put this to very good use! None of the bedrooms in our old house have ceiling lights connected to a light switch so I am either walking into dark bedrooms or leaving a light on so I don’t trip or walk into something. This would help out so much!

  39. Susan says:

I need this for my laundry area. It is a closet and has no overhead light.

  40. Diane says:

Sure could use one of these in our closet too.

  41. I would love to have one of these for my bedroom closet. I do not have a pantry but wih I did.

  42. Alana DeWitt says:

I could really use a light like this in my coat closet and one in my pantry.

  43. TESS says:

Awesome light I need one of those lights in a closet that I.

  44. Mr and Mrs J says:

Thank you for entering us—this would work well in our laundry closet. :-)

  45. Jennifer H. says:

This would be great in our bedroom closet. It’s so dark in there!

  46. Dana says:

Great giveaway! I need this in my closet!

  47. Michele D says:

I have a closet that has absolutely no light. That would be great in there. Also would be nice not to have to use a flashlight in there. ;)

  48. Rach J says:

I have a pantry without a light too, it would be perfect.

  49. Erin says:

Oh! How fantastic! I’d love to win to try this out! I’m tempted to buy 10 now! Ha, but I’ll wait and see — and save up for them!!

  50. Ginny says:

I’d love to win one! Thanks!

  51. Andrea says:

I have been looking for a product just like this! I have tried many others, but they just didn’t cut it…hoping this is the answer for my daughters’ dark closet! Thanks!

This looks like a great product!

  53. Kara Marks says:

We really need one of these in one of our closets that has no light!

  54. Sunnie says:

I could use one of these in my pantry, thanks for the giveaway.

  55. Melissa says:

The sensor part sounds UHmazing! My husband and I are fixing up my grandmothers house and moving in…but one side of the kitchen is SO dark! This would be perfect!

  56. Luis E says:

Just what I’ve been looking for.

  57. Stephanie C. in SC says:

I’d love to win this… perfect for my laundry room!

  58. Andrea Watts says:

    I would love this!

  61. Lynda says:

Must of been a parent that invented this! Could use several of these actually!

  62. Lynda says:

Must of been a parent that invented this! Could use several of these actually!

  63. Kimarie says:

Oh, I could think of about 5 places where I could use one of these – 2 in particular would be my laundry room or my utility closet. Neat gadget!

  64. Andrea says:

I know at least five different people who could use one of these, including myself. These are a great gift idea.

  65. Candice says:

This would be great here in Interior Alaska, during our long dark winters, and our huge cost of winter living (we strive to be warm sometime). The solstice marks the shortest day, and the slow return of the sun! We are living in our construction zone of a house…soon to be home. I still don’t have lights installed in my pantry, lol, or my second bathroom (which is currently only a toilet and the tool room!)

  66. Jennifer says:

How perfect this would be for my boys’ closet, which has no light!

  67. Somebodys Mimi says:

I would love to have this for my 87 year old Mother! She actually could use a couple of these in her old 100+ year old house!

  68. Amber Stein says:

I have been wanting a few of these for awhile now. I would love to win one. My house has super dark pantry’s and closets and these would be perfect!!
