Getting Ahead

November 17, 2008 · 13 comments

I finally feel like I am getting ahead of the lice game. We still have a steady stream of laundry because I don’t want to take any chances of the lice spreading. In the past 5 days I have only found one live bug, so I consider that a step in the right direction. We still spending our mornings going through everyone’s hair and checking, but things are looking up.

The good news is that because we had to cancel all of our plans I got a lot accomplished this week. First I conquered Mt. Laundry. The before picture was actually taken before things got really bad. At its worst point I actually had to climb over it to get to the washer.

I was also behind in organizing the Coupons for Troops mailing. The coupons were sorted and repackaged this weekend and mailed out today.

My kids had quite a laugh when they opened the Sunday paper. The topic of the kid’s section, lice!

Since we couldn’t go to church yesterday I baked most of my breads for the week. I will post about that later, but I’ll leave you with two pictures, any guesses what I new recipes I tried this week?

Your laundry room looks just like mine, size-wise. Don’t you wish that it was about 4-5 feet wider? We have winter coats hanging opposite the washer and dryer so there is only about 2 feet to walk!

It’s always encouraging when you see light at the end of the tunnel. Ughhh… Laundry – will it ever end?

Glad your getting things back on track again. Great tackles!

It looks like you tried your new granola recipe and are those english muffins?

It’s it funny how something as inconvenient as lice can actually be a true blessing? It looks like you got a lot done this week. Keep up the good work.

It’s great that you are winning your fight! I think it’s because of how hard you are working to stay on top of it.

I’m impressed! You’ve inspired me to tidy up my own chaotic corners.

I’ve called VB home for nineteen years now. So many of my dearest friends would never have come into my life had I not been living in such a heavy military area.

After being a teacher for several years, I know how horrible it can be to get rid of lice!! I spent many teaching days with my hair pulled up so I wouldn’t get it from the students, some of which seemed to have it the whole year! If you google it, there is a “recipe” for a shampoo you can make at home including lavender and other ingredients that is a natural lice deterrent. Also, wearing hairspray in your hair supposedly keeps lice from bothering you. Good luck!!

Lice was not fun, thankfully we had it during the summer, and we have hardwood floors!

Now if I could get rid or the fruit flies…
