Jen, Tasha, and Corrine.
I’ll be contacting your soon with your prize information.

Get More Green in Your Wallet

Our taxes have been filed and our refund check as been spent, but I know there are many out there who like to put off filing until the last minute. For years we have used online tax software to file our taxes, it is easy, convenient, and we usually receive our refund in less than two weeks.

One of my favorite things about filing our taxes online is that our information is stored (secure, of course) and the next year many fields are auto-filled for me, saving me tons of time. This year our taxes took less than an hour!

For those of you who have waited to file, I have a little something for you. TurboTax, in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, is giving away 3 web cards for TurboTax Deluxe online! These cards come with a prepaid access code for the Online Deluxe version which includes one free federal + state preparation +e-file. You can find out more about TurboTax’s online filing by visiting their website.

The best thing about this contest is you don’t have to be Irish to enter! Just leave me a comment telling me what you would do with a little extra green in your wallet. For a second entry tweet about this contest using the hashtag #TURBOTAX4FREE. Don’t forget to leave a second comment letting me know. Contest ends March 19th at 10pm EST.

As for our refund, we put deposited it in our car fund and just last week purchased a 15 passenger van for cash!

We using our refund to hopefully survive another year and pay for our bankruptcy. We had about $30,000 worth of emergencies in 3 years and now we are starting over.

We could totally use a little extra money for paying off our credit card debts. We are trying to pinch our pennies as we’re supposed to be moving to another country on a much smaller salary in the next few months.

We’re saving up for a new dishwasher. Ours is dead and my sweet girls have been making up for it. But I’m starting to feel guilty about that and am ready to have a functioning mechanical dishwasher again, rather than an overpriced dish-drying rack.

We always say, “We’re gonna do our taxes early!” And then we’re always in line at the post office on the LAST DAY to get them postmarked. :/

I filed my taxes already, but I used my refund towards my debt snowball!

We are just now starting with Dave Ramsey, after two months of figuring out what we actually spend our money on. We did go ahead and pay off several credit cards while we were tracking our money to make that easier later. What I would do is fund our baby emergency fund, and put the rest to our other debt!

My hubby and I just got two adorable little foster boys to add to our little family. If we receive any refund, my husband and I would like to pay off some bills so that Mommy can stay home with them instead of taking them to Daycare every day.

I’d use the money to buy groceries as well, and maybe a new pair of work gloves.

This time of year I always start to dream about what I want to plant around my yard and in my garden, so I would probably use it for landscaping!

I happened to peek at your daughters blog and I think she is just as excited as you are about the van :)
I left a comment on her blog to drop by mine because we are having a planner giveaway and GracWorks not only makes planners for the adults in the family but youth too. Colorful pages for their sermon notes, school & home responsibilites, devotions etc.
Maybe you (or anyone reading this) wants to enter…they really do have fabulous planners with the goal to keep focused on Christ.

Anyway….Hurray for you and your new van!!! And thank you for the posts of your story. I am reading them as time allows and I find them very encouraging…

With our impending military move from Southern California to Mobile, Alabama coming up this summer, we will be transitioning from a 2-income household to one income. My fiancee’s tax return is spent on wedding preparations, but my tax return will be spent on paying down my car loan so that we can hopefully have only one car payment by the time we get to Alabama.

Please enter me in the Turbo Tax contest! I’ve never done my own taxes before, so I could really use it.

We normally get very little back, and we roll that over into estimated payments for next year. IF there was any above and beyond, I would re-do the floor in my kitchen!!
I just found your blog and am enjoying it very much :)

We plan to put any refund towaard the purchase of a new energy star freezer. The one we have is old and sucks up the most electricity…

With a little extra green, we would make even more progress on our debt snowball. I’m crossing my fingers on winning this one! :-)

32 Jenn March 17, 2009 at 2:46 pm

Great idea for a giveaway. We still have not bought our software yet. Trying to put it off as long as possible.
I could totally use a little extra green in my wallet. I work automotive and haven’t worked a full week in some time. Makes keeping with the household and kids hard some times.
I am sure I would spend it on groceries and spring/summer clothes for my daughter.

Thanks for the chance to win.

We are in the midst of redoing our bathroom. Any extra money would go towards that and possibly towards replacement or repair of our crippled, ailing van.

[Reply]

34 Corinne March 17, 2009 at 7:55 pm

A little extra green would go toward getting my LASIK surgery. Yep, this is really something I need and before I can get the surgery, I need to have at least a little down payment.
Thanks for sponsoring this contest!

Any money, extra or not is going towards my stepsons own place for their own business. For the last year, they have been teamed up with a man who has nickel and dimed them to death. They work only to pay their expenses for the business. When they get their own place, they can have their own licenses and quit paying fees for a so called partner. Finally keep some of the profits and earn a living.
