I don’t have a ton of savings for this week. Basically I am all about survival right now.
My best shopping deal this week was 18 boxes of Kraft macaroni and cheese for $0.35 a box at the commissary. I would have included a picture of all the boxes, but mac and cheese doesn’t last long around here.
I found a place to get free garden seeds. This is a great opportunity for those who want to have a garden this summer, but need to keep the costs down. You can find out more about it here.
The highlight of my week was the fact that I won two prizes in the ultimate blog party. I won a t-shirt from Jodilightful and a lego set from Lego.com.
The best part is I plan on using my prizes as gifts for my family… hopefully that will keep my gift spending under budget.
I did have a few frugal flops this week as well. I decided to really save money on toilet paper buy purchasing a brand that I have never used before, because it was one-third the price of the next cheapest brand. Let’s just say now I know why! I will be using the rest of the rolls to sand some more window frames 
.
My husband bought some generic diapers this week, and they were also terrible. They don’t stay on, they leak, and they sag…. hopefully CVS will be running a deal on diapers next week.

“Stay Stitching”: when you make something with a fabric that has a lot of stretch, and might go out of shape on you, you do a line of stitching around any curved edges like the neckline or armholes, before you put the pieces together. In other words, through a single layer of fabric, and slightly inside the seam line (for example, 1/2″ from the edge if you’re doing 5/8″ seams–I usually just eyeball it.) This helps the garment to ‘stay’ in its original shape and not get all wonky. Since the most stretch in your skirt would be around the waistline (which, in turn, would stretch out at the hips), I would do the staystitching there. I hope this helps with your project, because it’s too pretty for you to give up on it!

Oh my gosh… I did that toilet paper thing too. But thanks heavens it is all gone and I learned a lesson! Stick with what I know is soft! There are some things you just shouldn’t change regardless of the price!
