Looking for a way to beat the heat this summer? How about taking a trip to the bowling alley. This summer if you register for the Kid Bowl Free program, your kids will be able to bowl two free games every day! You can read more about the program on the website as well as view a list of participating bowling alleys.

FYI: Shoes are not included.

I have not personally signed up for this program, but it looks like a good opportunity to have some fun this summer.

We have done this! It’s great, we do have to pay for shoes, and that cost is depended on the bowling alley! Also who is consider is a kid is totally depending on the bowling alley. For example here a kid is 18 and under, but at other locations it’s 14 and under.

So I say check it out! My kids are having a blast with it!

  2. I don’t have bowling on our summer fun list. Thanks for the idea!

  3. Stacey says:

Thanks for the info. Got all my kids signed up!

  4. Lynne says:

Thanks for the info. I just signed up my grandchildren who are in flight now from Utah for a visit. It will be a fun family activity!

I used to work for AMF bowling centers. They offer all children even teens ( up to 16 or 18 I forget) a pass for 2 free games a day. Shoe rentals, in Oregon at least, were 2.00 for kids. However, some offer special rates of 25 cents with the coupon.

So basically 1.00 per game worse case.

Pop into any local AMF center and they should give you the pass if you ask for it. But most time the kids must be present. Cant take one for friends.

It is a scannable pass, looks like a coupon. YOu reuse it throughout the summer, so make sure you keep it in a coupon case or at least out of the kidos pockets.

Yea, the program costs $23.95, so it’s not actually free. I was plugging my info in and then in big red letters a screen pops us with the cost.

  7. TheHappyHousewife says:

I believe the $23.95 is if the parents want to purchase a bowling pass for themselves. It is free for the kids. According to the website:

Once you register, you will have the opportunity to purchase the family pass. The Family Pass was created to allow for adult family members to enjoy bowling throughout the summer as well. The Family Pass starts from $23.95 and includes 2 GAMES PER PERSON PER DAY. The Family Pass covers up to 4 adult family members. You may have 1, 2, 3, or 4 adults on the family pass.

You do not have to buy the pass to get free bowling for the kids.

Don’t forget you can definitely go to thrift stores or used sports stores to get your own shoes… also the family member ship I was told the fee for the whole family is under 30 dollars and can include up to four adults… thanks

Thanks for this! I signed up!

can you believe the closest participating alley is hour and half away….will cost more in gas than to bowl….I will think about it….

  12. Tracey says:

We just did this yesterday. My two girls (8 and 6) bowled two games each; total cost, which was only shoe rental, was $4. Pretty cheap fun!

  13. TheHappyHousewife says:

You could always ask one closer to you if they are interested in participating. The worst they could do is say no!

  14. Serena says:

You guys should not pay anything. All AMF bowling centers (Throughout the US) offer this as a FREE 100% FREE service. I was employed there just last summer.

  15. Christin says:

Oh thank you for clarifying that! :)
