I Need A Makeover….

Here is the deal…

About a year ago, my husband and I heard about a guy named Dave Ramsey. Last summer, I checked out all of his books from the library and read them… quickly! Soon I begged asked my husband to read the books too. He did, and on August 1, 2007, we began our journey to freedom. Using Dave’s principles, mixed with a few others, and some good old common sense we were able to pay off $11,000 in student loans in 3 months. On October 26, 2007, we called his radio show and screamed, “We’re debt free!” It was awesome, and now I want you to have the chance to scream “We’re debt free!” just like we did.

My giveaway is your choice of books, either

  1. I want to pay off my house note – now!

  2. Casey says:

I have heard great things about this book. My Dh is a pastor and I know this book would come in handy (not only for us) but for counseling premarital couples or couples that need help financially please sign me up!

  3. I have been wanting to sit down and go over our finances and make a plan and have been hearing lots of great things about doing finances the Dave Ramsey way.

  4. Suzie says:

Right now we need a Total Money Makeover because we have a hard time budgeting and saving money. Everytime we feel like we’re doing well, we have a backslide. After saving up a few thousand dollars and no longer living paycheck to paycheck, my fiance went nuts and bought a bunch of computer crap since we “could afford it.” In the past week we’ve dropped almost a grand on new car tires, an alignment for the tires, gasoline (that keeps getting more expensive but df has to fill up twice a week for the work commute)… anyway… so much for being able to afford the computer. Now we have NO money again because of the unexpected expenses!

At least we’re not as bad off as his parents who lost their home, still owe us a ton of money they borrowed last year, and go gambling all the time and then try to borrow more money from us. I think they need the book more than we do!

  5. Sonya says:

I so need the Total Money Makeover!! Three weeks ago, I was completely broke. I had to drain my account just to pay rent. I didn’t even have enough money to buy groceries for my son. It’s very depressing knowing you don’t have anything at all. I need this book in order to become debt free and to learn to manage my money.

  6. d says:

We are debt free(except our house) and would like to stay that way.

  7. Congrat’s on being able to sell.. WE’RE DEBT FREE!!! FREEDOM!!!!

I love listening to him on Friday just for that reason. Most of the times I’m crying on my side because I’m so happy for everyone who can yell that.

Thankfully my husband and I have been debt free since we have been married except for the house and our goal is to get that paid of in a couple years. ($130k in 9 yrs with all but 3 of those years us being one income and not the highest income at that either)

  8. I’m a firm believer of being debt free makes us “free”. I have not read Ramsey’s book yet and would love to. I hoep I can win – please enter me in. Thanks.

  9. Patti says:

I think we could use either. We aren’t bad with money, but the economy is scaring me enough to think that reading these would be a great idea!

  10. mom to p says:

What a great giveaway – you’d be helping one person to be financially aware and possibly debt free like you! I need this book because my husband and I had been reading all of Robert Kiyosaki’s book and would want to be educated more!

  11. Amy says:

The only debt we have is our mortgage (AND we’re living on ONE teacher income with 3 children) BUT I sure would like to see our mortgage disappear quicker and I would like to save more for the inevitables… please enter us for Financial Peace Revisited.

  12. chanelireli says:

We need this because of the HUGE amount of student debt we have and just all of the incidentals that come with having lots of kids.

  13. I would LOVE to be debt free. This book would help me to get that jump start in the right direction.
This is a great giveaway!!! I can’t wait to see if I won!! :) )

  14. I am a stay at home mom of 4 young boys and am in the process of adopting a daughter. Talk about needing debt relief! Your blog is a blessing to me. THANK YOU!!!!!

I’ve heard a lot of Dave Ramsey, but never read the book Total Money Makeover. We need this book because we want to implement his principles!

  17. Kara says:

I’d love the Financial Peace Revisited book! I read TMM last year and loved it, but couldn’t get Hubby to read it or really listen to me about it. We are working on getting out of debt slowly (just paid off our only credit card!) and want to get our student loans and a loan from family paid off asap. I think if I could get him on board with Dave Ramsey’s suggestions that we could get stuff paid off so much quicker.

  18. Sarah A. says:

With a second child on the way we really need to get a budget in gear. I have heard so much about Dave Ramsey and want to get started soon.

  19. Dan Smith says:

I would love to read one of these books! We are currently working on paying off our debts

  20. Susan Smith says:

I listen to Dave’s radio program every day. I would love to be out of debt someday

  21. amy says:

I’ve always felt like we were decent at budgeting, but 4 years after having our first kid, I feel like we’re not saving enough, and I would like to work less and be with the kids more. . .SO this could be an amazing resource for us at this time.

  22. Casey says:

I am a single mom of 2 kiddos and 1 bulldog. A few years ago when I got divorced I said no more; but apparently I have a HUGE problem with saying NO! I would love to have an opportunity to win one of these books and change my families life for the better. I love your website – I read it daily for inspiration and great ideass Thank you!

  23. Christy says:

We could sure use this. I have 32,000 worth of college loans, car loans, credit cards, four mouths to feed and only one income. I’ve been working really hard to get our finances in order, being frugal at the grocery store but it always seem like we run out of money! we could surely use one of the books!

  24. Alison says:

I need Financial Peace because I’ve read the other one, loved it, and want to know more of what Dave has to say!

  25. Liz says:

Can I, can I? We’re not directly related although our husbands may be by now! I’d take whichever one you recommend.

We need this book because my husband is thinking of changing careers. I think he is serious this time. That means we’d actually settle down and need to buy a house. I also requested an adoption packet from an agency. Hmmm.

  26. C Duran says:

I could really use the Money Makeover. We are trying to make some changes during difficult times. Thanks for the giveaway!

  27. Beth says:

I just got hit with a $3000 dentist bill and need some guidance on how to fit this new debt into an already tight budget!

  28. Adena says:

I would love the Total Money Makeover. We had to open a charge card just to cover my hubby’s root canal, now if its’ not paid off by July, it’s like almost 30% interest tacked on from the initial charge!! We hope to be debt free before then. As soon as we almost had our emergency fund, by hubby lost his job.

  29. Meg says:

We are walking on eggshells right now. Everything is so tight, it’s easy to break those eggshells and fall through. We have the dreaded “commision” as our main income. We could really use some extra help!

  30. Erica G says:

My husband and I are trying to find a way for me to be a stay at home mom for our newborn. I think these books could help.

  31. Jeanine says:

We could really use this book. We have had the year from hell. My husband was diagnosed with cancer and was out of work for six months. While he was on sick leave his union were dumb f@#*&s and agreed to a 40% wage cut, and dropping of medical coverage to just about nothing, the cheapest plan that the carrier has. (Almost had a stroke when get got a bill for $8,000 for just one of the drugs for one chemo treatment that he had after the insurance change over, it still isn’t paid off yet)

We are a single family income and have two small daughters. We don’t have family able to help out with childcare, and the cost of daycare is expensive. I am a stay at home mom because of the fact that I’d be left with $60 a week after day care cost were taken out of my paycheck. Not worth working 40 hours a week for just an extra $60.

  32. Trish says:

Thanks for having a giveaway. Our church just had a Financial Peace University seminars – but the 13 week commitment was too long for us. We are in the process of adopting a child and would love to have advice on how to save for this.

  33. Stacey says:

While debt free except for a mortgage we are trying to save more since we have two cars that will need to be replaced in the next year or two and are also looking at moving to a bigger house. And ideally, we’d like to be paying cash for the cars.

  34. Stacey says:

Oops, forgot to mention the book.Total Money Makeover looks good.

  35. Meredith A. says:

My husband and I have been wanting to read this (Total Money Makeover) for a long time! Recently, we had a frugal flop to share one car… and then our only car went out too! AHHH!

  36. Andrea says:

This is a big turning point in our life–almost as big as our marriage! My husband is graduating from college and accepting a full time job. Investing, saving, getting out of debt, looking toward the future, life insurance, wills, all that stuff are really important right now–and we don’t have a clue what we’re doing! We could use a book!

  37. reeva says:

Thanks for a great giveaway! I hope i’m the lucky winner :)

i’m in debt up to my eyeballs! Im a clutter hog and because i’m so unorganized i find myself buying the same things over and over and buying organzational supplies to organize the things i keep buying over and over — argh
