deluxee Get More Green in Your Wallet

Our taxes have been filed and our refund check as been spent, but I know there are many out there who like to put off filing until the last minute. For years we have used online tax software to file our taxes, it is easy, convenient, and we usually receive our refund in less than two weeks.

One of my favorite things about filing our taxes online is that our information is stored (secure, of course) and the next year many fields are auto-filled for me, saving me tons of time. This year our taxes took less than an hour!

For those of you who have waited to file, I have a little something for you. TurboTax, in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, is giving away 3 web cards for TurboTax Deluxe online! These cards come with a prepaid access code for the Online Deluxe version which includes one free federal + state preparation +e-file. You can find out more about TurboTax’s online filing by visiting their website.

The best thing about this contest is you don’t have to be Irish to enter! Just leave me a comment telling me what you would do with a little extra green in your wallet. For a second entry tweet about this contest using the hashtag #TURBOTAX4FREE. Don’t forget to leave a second comment letting me know. Contest ends March 19th at 10pm EST.

As for our refund, we put deposited it in our car fund and just last week purchased a 15 passenger van for cash!

  2. Joelle says:

We could totally use a little extra money for paying off our credit card debts. We are trying to pinch our pennies as we’re supposed to be moving to another country on a much smaller salary in the next few months.

  3. Tabby says:

We’re saving up for a new dishwasher. Ours is dead and my sweet girls have been making up for it. But I’m starting to feel guilty about that and am ready to have a functioning mechanical dishwasher again, rather than an overpriced dish-drying rack.

  4. Amie says:

Honestly I would use it to buy groceries.

  5. Amie says:

    And then I tweeted…

  6. Rhonda says:

I would use the extra cash towards our baby step of a $1000.00 Emergency fund…Our first baby step to becoming debt free…

Love your story!! Look forward to the next post!

  7. Sarah E. says:

We always say, “We’re gonna do our taxes early!” And then we’re always in line at the post office on the LAST DAY to get them postmarked. :/

  8. StephanieK says:

I filed my taxes already, but I used my refund towards my debt snowball!

  9. Tasha says:

We are just now starting with Dave Ramsey, after two months of figuring out what we actually spend our money on. We did go ahead and pay off several credit cards while we were tracking our money to make that easier later. What I would do is fund our baby emergency fund, and put the rest to our other debt!

  10. Tasha says:

    I twittered!

  11. Lindsey says:

My hubby and I just got two adorable little foster boys to add to our little family. If we receive any refund, my husband and I would like to pay off some bills so that Mommy can stay home with them instead of taking them to Daycare every day.

  12. staci says:

we already filed our taxes, got our refund and spent it. Can we say ambulance ride to the ER?

  13. Stacie says:

We could really use a new refrigerator!

  14. Jessica says:

I’d use the money to buy groceries as well, and maybe a new pair of work gloves.

  15. MB says:

This time of year I always start to dream about what I want to plant around my yard and in my garden, so I would probably use it for landscaping!

  16. Jennifer says:

I happened to peek at your daughters blog and I think she is just as excited as you are about the van :)
I left a comment on her blog to drop by mine because we are having a planner giveaway and GracWorks not only makes planners for the adults in the family but youth too. Colorful pages for their sermon notes, school & home responsibilites, devotions etc.
Maybe you (or anyone reading this) wants to enter…they really do have fabulous planners with the goal to keep focused on Christ.

Anyway….Hurray for you and your new van!!! And thank you for the posts of your story. I am reading them as time allows and I find them very encouraging…

  17. Jennifer says:

(and I live in Canada so my comment wasn’t really to enter the giveaway but if we get a refund…I will be starting to take a course at a time through Baptist Bible College Canada. hurray!)

  18. Jen says:

With our impending military move from Southern California to Mobile, Alabama coming up this summer, we will be transitioning from a 2-income household to one income. My fiancee’s tax return is spent on wedding preparations, but my tax return will be spent on paying down my car loan so that we can hopefully have only one car payment by the time we get to Alabama.

Please enter me in the Turbo Tax contest! I’ve never done my own taxes before, so I could really use it.

  19. we usually don’t get a refund but what we do get back will go into savings.

    great giveaway. thanks!

  20. michelle says:

We would use the extra cash to sock away in our car fund. I just stumbled upon your site a few weeks ago and I love it!

  24. Monica M. says:

  25. Extra Green?

I would probably stash it away to try and make up for all that we lost in the Stock Market!! :-)

  26. Cindy says:

We normally get very little back, and we roll that over into estimated payments for next year. IF there was any above and beyond, I would re-do the floor in my kitchen!!
I just found your blog and am enjoying it very much :)

  27. Libby says:

Oh…we could SOOOO use this right now! We have been trying to put off buying our software, but we just about to give in!

  28. janet h says:

We plan to put any refund towaard the purchase of a new energy star freezer. The one we have is old and sucks up the most electricity…

  29. April G says:

We could get caught up on our property taxes or at least make a little dent. LOL

I also tweeted about this contest.

  30. Angie says:

With a little extra green, we would make even more progress on our debt snowball. I’m crossing my fingers on winning this one! :-)

  31. Jenn says:

Great idea for a giveaway. We still have not bought our software yet. Trying to put it off as long as possible.
I could totally use a little extra green in my wallet. I work automotive and haven’t worked a full week in some time. Makes keeping with the household and kids hard some times.
I am sure I would spend it on groceries and spring/summer clothes for my daughter.

Thanks for the chance to win.

  32. Helene says:

We are in the midst of redoing our bathroom. Any extra money would go towards that and possibly towards replacement or repair of our crippled, ailing van.

  33. Corinne says:

A little extra green would go toward getting my LASIK surgery. Yep, this is really something I need and before I can get the surgery, I need to have at least a little down payment.
    Thanks for sponsoring this contest!

  35. Joelle says:

Oh, and by the way, I just tweeted your offer. :) (You follow me, so you should be able to see the tweet, too.)

  36. Glenda says:

Pay off debt – establish an emergency fund – buy groceries – survive for another month…..

  37. Bob says:

Any money, extra or not is going towards my stepsons own place for their own business. For the last year, they have been teamed up with a man who has nickel and dimed them to death. They work only to pay their expenses for the business. When they get their own place, they can have their own licenses and quit paying fees for a so called partner. Finally keep some of the profits and earn a living.

  38. May says:

I’m a stay at home mom and husband just got laid off – we have a little baby too! So I would use the extra green for bills and baby stuff like diapers. Keeping my fingers crossed :)

  39. Jen says:

Thank you thank you thank you! You’re the best Toni! Your blog is one of my top three favorites. I think you’re just the most wonderful mom out there and I keep modeling the life my fiance and I are going to build after the life you have.

  40. Sabrina says:

    gas money…groceries…vacation!
