Don’t miss the sale on Dave Ramsey’s budgeting bundle this week on Mamasource!
Who organizes the finances in your home? Since the beginning of my marriage I’ve been in charge of our finances. I’m the nerd in our family so it just worked out that way. That doesn’t mean I determine where we spend all the money, it just means I’m in charge of paying the bills and making sure we have enough money to pay them every month.
Finances are probably one of the most important areas of your life that needs to stay organized.
For me it starts with a budget and keeping track of how the money flows through our wallets each month.
If your finances need an organizational makeover here are a few free (and not free) resources for you.
Free Budgeting Resources
Did you know that Google has several free budget templates. There are family, personal, and household budget worksheets. What I like about Google Docs is that you can share them between members of your family so everyone is kept up to date on the budget.
We used Dave’s budget worksheets when we were first starting to put our budgets on paper. He now has an online budget tool available too.
This is a link to over ten different budget spreadsheets. There is sure to be one that works for you!
Money Management Resources
Mint is a free online budgeting program. I haven’t used it personally, but I’ve heard nothing but positive feedback about this online system.
Based off the “Envelopes” method of budgeting, Mvelopes is another online program. I actually tried this one for a few months, but it wasn’t compatible with my bank so I stopped using it.
Quicken has been around forever and is probably the most popular money management software. I think online resources like Mint and Mvelopes are quickly catching up in popularity, but if it is working for you why change?
What are your favorite tools for budgeting?
