I read that only 1 in 8 shoppers are “brave” enough to ask for a discount and out of the ones that do half of them will get it! My wife refuses to stand beside me when I ask for a discount, but seems to be happy when we get it!
The comment about AAA is good too. My wife and I used to be surprised by how many people will offer a AAA discount for us when we travel or shop.

I even got a discount on a bun wig for my Irish step dancing daughter…I happened to mention we were military as I was fumbling through my purse (I had just flown in on a space-A flight and was jet-lagged, yet drove 2 hours to a dance competition the next morning), and the nice wig lady gave me a ten percent military discount. How cool is that?

Great tip
I have found that there are more military discounts in areas where there are more military. They are harder to find once you retire. Don’t forget about AAA as well, or in my case AARP! hee hee! once I hit 50 that baby became a very good buddy! At Hotels it is even a bigger discount than a military discount!

This tip can also be used when on vacation. For instance, if you are visiting an aquarium, ask if they offer discounts to homeschoolers (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE VISITING DURING THE OFF-PEAK SEASON.)
