Freebies

This week is all about the things I got for free.

I’ll start with last weekend. We were on a family vacation and since we were the only ones who drove to the cabin we got to take home all the food (that was purchased by my very generous brother-in-law).

I am sure this is hard to believe but there was even more food that didn’t get into the picture.

I was able to menu plan around all of this free food which meant I kept our grocery bill at $50 for the week (family of 8). Most of that money was spent on milk to go with our free cereal.

I actually bought 10 boxes of Life in all and paid $2 out of pocket. Yipee! I also got the yogurt for free with a coupon that was sent to me in the mail.

I headed over to CVS to pick up our free toothpaste, and got some free diapers too.

I did spend $1.50 for the gauze. (our daughter had a tooth pulled this week)

My kids didn’t want to be left out of the freebie action so they decided to go dumpster diving and pulled this toy car out of a swamp behind our house. Can you believe it actually works!

(sorry for the grainy picture, it was getting dark )

I am overwhelmed at the blessings we received this week. These blessings remind me of Romans 8:32, He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

I don’t deserve any of the freebies or great deals that I get every week. The Lord has graciously provided for my family over the years and for this I am eternally grateful.

I understand how you got the food free from the cabin but all the other stuff..how did that work?..All in all that’s pretty cool. Thanks for sharing!

The cereal was free because it was on sale for 5 for $5 and I had dollar off coupons for 8 or the 10 boxes, since there is no tax on food in MD, they were free.
The CVS stuff was free because the toothpaste was 2.99 at CVS, I had $1 off coupons for each one, the diapers were on sale for 8.99 and I had a $2 off coupon for those. I had a $5/15 coupon for CVS and then I used my ECB’s to pay for the remaining amount. I also earned $9 in ECB’s on the deal from the toothpaste.
    Hope that helps.

  3. I love it when I can combine sales with coupons to get such good deals!
Regarding the dumpster diving…My husband grew up woth Wednesday’s being treasure days. His dad owned a trailer park and Wednesday was trash pick-up. My f-i-l would take the good looking things out of the trash and give them to his kids. It worked for our kids, too. We have received two or three nice bikes from tenants who would rather throw them away than take care of them! *grin*

  4. WOW! I think all that fruit and (I think it’s) deli meat is some of the best stuff you got from your family. Congratulations!

I sometimes think I am weird for praising God when I get a coupon in the mail or hit a good sale… But I really do think those are blessings from Him. Like you said, nothing we deserve! Isn’t it fun to marvel at His provision?

The Lord is to be praised for such abundant blessings. How did you get all of that food home? That would have to be one big cooler.
