A little story about chili.
We ate chili a lot growing up, or at least I think we did. I remember it as being one of my favorite meals because sometimes we got those white saltine crackers to go with it. I loved those crackers… until I got mono in the 11th grade and they were one of the few things I could eat for the next three months. But I digress….
After I was married I remembered my mom’s chili recipe was pretty simple so I started making chili for my family.
I made chili a lot… at least once a week. I made extra, froze it, and sent my husband to work with little frozen containers of leftover chili.
I was the Chili Queen.
Then one day, about three years ago, my husband said to me….
I don’t really like chili…
Say what? I was dumbfounded. I asked him why he told me for years that my chili tasted “good.” He said that my chili did taste good… for chili.
I fed that poor man chili for FIFTEEN YEARS and he ate it, even though he didn’t like chili.
That’s a good husband folks.

ha ha, my hubby always says its not spicy enough or not enough meat. i gotta tame it down for the kids, and he can always add more red hot. when he found out in my last batch i had used ground turkey, he wasn’t happy but when i told him i had gotten it for $1 per lb. he recovered….men are so funny sometimes…
That’s hilarious! My husband did the very same thing to me after about 14 years! I was stunned when he finally told me! And I was a bit sad. I love chili and taco soup and he prefers none of it. He is a very kind man who hardly ever says anything negative about me or what I do for him and the family. I am blessed!
