Last week I downloaded Radical from Amazon when it was on sale for $1.99. While I had downloaded other free books in the past I hadn’t actually started reading them yet. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about reading a book on my computer, since I feel like I spend a lot of time on my computer already. Last night I started reading Radical and I loved it! The font was bigger and it was much easier to read.
Every day Amazon offers free books (kindle version) for download. Remember you don’t have to have a Kindle to download them. There are several free programs you can download that will convert these books so you can read them on your phone or computer. Here are a few freebies on Amazon that I recommend.
Margin: Restoring Emotional, Physical, Financial, and Time Reserves to Overloaded Lives
I read this book several years ago and it really made and impact on me. It changed the way I viewed my time and helped me manage it better.
The Simple Dollar: How One Man Wiped Out His Debts and Achieved the Life of His Dreams
Trent’s blog, The Simple Dollar is a great personal finance blog. I’m sure his book will be a great read.
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Required reading in many high school curriculums. Save space on your shelf and own it on your computer.
A classic and required reading in almost every British Lit class.
My favorite book. I read it last year and couldn’t put it down!
The Holy Bible English Standard Version (ESV)
I love owning different translations of the bible so I can compare notes.
Another classic
You can read Five Js article on how to integrate Henty books into your homeschool program. My kids have never really loved the Henty books, but many families have the whole collection.
Many of these books are free for a limited time, so if you see any you would enjoy get them today!

Have you ever heard of the Gutenberg Project? (http://www.gutenberg.org) It’s a website that offers thousands of free ebooks – all of which are no onger under copyright. They have all the classics.. like Jane Austen, GA Henry, Agatha Christie, Lewis Carroll, Mark Twain, Jules Verne, Shakespeare, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Louisa May Alcott, etc. It’s an awesome resource!
I actually won my Kindle during one of the Savvy Blogging Twitter parties, and I have fallen in love with it. My 2nd grader is an avid reader, and it is so convenient to have access to so many of the classic books for free. I do also love that Crossway is committed to keeping access to the ESV Bible free. We use this version at our church, and many of our members access it on their phones.
I have been using this awhile with my kindle app for my iPad. They have a lot of free good books.
