This weekend I considered writing a post titled, “Giving Breakfast the Pink Slip.” Last week there were several days where my kids had cereal for breakfast. It was easy, I didn’t have to stand over a hot griddle, and there was little clean up.

The problem(s): They went through SIX gallons of milk in four days and were hungry for lunch by 10 am.

My kids need a more filling breakfast than cereal most days of the week, that’s just how they were made. I, however, was feeling stuck in a rut of the same old same old. Then coincidentally (although I don’t really believe in coincidences) my friend Kate sent me an email today about her newest Ebook; Better Breakfast- 110 Breakfast Recipes. She offered to email me one and I accepted immediately!

As I looked over the Better Breakfast- 110 Breakfast Recipes cookbook this evening I suddenly became very hungry for all things breakfast. This cookbook is filled with over 100 breakfast recipes. You could make every recipe in this book and only repeat eat the same thing about 3 times a year.

Some of the recipes you will find in this cookbook are:

  • Cherry Pecan Bread
  • Pear & Cream Cheese Muffins
  • Strawberry Kiwi Muffins
  • Oatmeal Breakfast Bars
  • Banana Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies
  • English Muffin Bread
  • Sausage & Cheese Pinwheels
  • Butter Pecan Banana Waffles
  • Berry Baked French Toast
  • Plum Baked Pancakes
  • Crispy French Toast Sticks
  • Crockpot Granola
  • Peaches & Cream Oatmeal
  • Caramel Apple Smoothies

  • Ham & Cheese Strata
  • Sausage, Spinach & Cheese Quiche
  • Breakfast Kabobs

There is even a section of less than 10 minute recipes for those busy mornings. The recipes in the Better Breakfast cookbook don’t require fancy ingredients and with so many to choose from it is easy to incorporate these breakfasts into your seasonal produce shopping.

Kate is running a cookbook launch sale and for the next three days Better Breakfast is only $3.95! That is truly a steal. And since Kate is a good friend of mine she also agreed to giveaway 3 copies of the Better Breakfast cookbook to my readers. To enter to win leave a comment telling me what you like best for breakfast. For me it is French toast, with eggs, bacon, home fries and toast coming in second.

Oh and a new personal favorite (my littles 3 and 1 don’t love it yet) is a spinach, mushroom omelet (or in my case because I’m omelet impaired….spinach, mushroom scrambled eggs!)

My husband and received a waffle press for our wedding that has for farm animal shapes. We now have two small boys who also love breakfast.

I use to make a hearty breakfast every morning, but this summer has been so crazy that cereal has been the staple. I hope to get back into the “breakfast for a king” mode again

Whole grain chocolate chip waffles. The whole family agrees on that, but my daughter likes sausage and my son likes bacon. Some days I cook one and some days the other, which means someone is usually not happy. This cookbook could help me!!!!

  31. Kimarie says:

Oh, yeah, we’ve experienced the 10am “I’m hungry for lunch” blues! We are big breakfast eaters, out of necessity, and load up on protein in the mornings. I love cheesy scrambled eggs with sausage links and peanut butter toast, or a quick favorite is kefir smoothie with muffins. My kids love oven pancake, very filling and easy, or homemade biscuits with sausage gravy. I have definitely noticed that by having a hearty breakfast, we all actually eat less throughout the rest of the day. So it’s budget-friendly, too!

  32. Amber says:

Yum everything sounds delicious…I love eggs and toast in the morning. And yes you are right, cereal is not very feeling and the kids are always hungry by 10.

  33. Laura says:

Yes, breakfast is my favorite meal – and I enjoy fixing it morning, noon, and night! 37. Tiffany says:

French Toast! sadly, however, my kids don’t like it? I don’t get it! BUT I could really use new breakfast ideas! The cereal thing is a pain, and you’re right, they’re hungry so quickly afterwards! Thanks for your blog & great ideas, and the info about this great-looking book!

  38. Kimi says:

French toast would be my favorite breakfast that’s quick. I love all breakfast foods, so for holidays and special occasions we usually do full breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, geotta, hashbrowns, cinnamon rolls & fresh fruit!! That would be my all time favorite. Thanks so much!!

  40. Marisa says:

Double Chocolate Muffins!!! Is that even considered breakfast?

  41. Heather says:

My favorite breakfast is an english muffin fried egg with bacon sandwich! Cook the bacon first, then the egg in the same pan while toasting a muffin. The yolk of the egg should be firm but not dried out! This was my favorite growing up and still is!

  42. Michelle says:

I wish my kids liked different breakfasts, but they are stuck in a rut. lol

  43. jamie says:

french toast. blueberry pancakes. delicious bacon. and maybe some scrambled eggs. yummy.

  44. I would love to get this cookbook! My favorite breakfast is French Toast and eggs. Preferably with fresh fruit on top! (of the toast, not the eggs!) Thanks!

  45. Molly says:

Oats. Yum. Or granola. Yum. But mostly oats.

  46. Taya says:

Hmmm…I love waffles or pancakes for breakfast with some fresh fruit and a bit of whipped cream!

  47. carazymom says:

COFFEE + oatmeal with chocolate chips, or french toast, or scrambled eggs, or a few egg casseroles I have in my arsenal – when I’m not too lazy to assemble them the night before. While I don’t like eating first thing in the morning, I LOVE all things breakfast!

My favorite restaurant has a surf and turf benedict that is to die for. I indulged while there for a business meeting last week…. Prime Rib thinly sliced with poached eggs, topped with Hollandaise and crab meat! YUMMY!

  48. Kelli says:

My favorite is “breakfast banana splits”- split banana with plain (or vanilla) yogurt on top and a fresh fruit on top. Grape nuts make good crunchies.

Or baked oatmeal or coffee cake. we also have breakfast for supper once a week. I LOVE biscuits n gravy although I don’t get that very often. I just love breakfast food!

PS-Cereal doesn’t work for my kids either…it just isn’t worth it. It barely keeps them full for an hour. :(

  49. Shannon says:

My favourite breakfast is homemade granola (using your recipe which my children all love – very rare for all of them to like one thing!) with yogurt and topped with some fresh fruit.

  50. Dawn Holmgren says:

I cook up oatbran I get from Trader Joes and I always add yummy organic fruit to it and sometimes yogurt to make it a special treat. My kids LOVE it and it’s great to mix it up. We’ve also enjoyed making omelets lately, takes a little more time, but worth the healthy protein for them.
A trick on the cereal….they get cereal, healthy choice of it, on Saturday mornings. Gives me a morning off and they think it’s Christmas! ;) Last week I was so exhausted I gave in and was giving them cereal two mornings in row. I swear it makes them hungry not only just an hour after eating, but it seems like they aren’t fulfilled ALL day.
It’s a gift to give our kidos what their bodies need, breakfast is a huge kicker for them to start their day ahead of the energy they use up!
Would be refreshing to get a new outlook on some ideas for sure!!!
