I have read that they actually sell MORE Slurpees on free day than usual – people come, get the 7-oz size and want more (since none of the regular ones are that small)!
make sure it’s in your area, I loaded up my 8 kids a couple years ago, and it wasn’t available where I live
we went home & ate ice cream, lol!
