When it comes to cooking for your family what would work best for you?
Recipes that are under 30 minutes ~ I mean who has time to cook anymore?
Recipes that are healthy but take a bit more time ~ Leave the processed foods to McDonalds.
Recipes that are cheap ~ The economy stinks, I need to feed my family for less!
Recipes that are easy ~ Boiling water is my specialty.
I want it all ~ I want to feed my family low cost healthy meals and I don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen!
I am planning some fall recipes for the website and I would love your feedback. When you are planning meals for your family what types of recipes are you looking for?

I want it all, healthy being most important.
Trying to eat healthier- therefore- the recipes that might take a little more time….I like to cook- so it doesnt matter how long it takes!
thank you!
I want it all too!!! I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
i’m not a good cook and my kids do a lot of complaining! i have become very boring–doing weight watchers and dealing with food allergies-wheat, soy, dairy, pork, rice, and peanuts–not much left but chicken, veggies, and fruit…. HELP!
I’m in need of all of the above in order of Importance I’d go for
Healthy
Economical
easy
30 min or less
All of the above! I am totally committed to healthy food, but we don’t have tons of money and I hate to cook. Oh, and have no time either. I’m looking forward to what you come up with!
I try above all to make healthy things most of the time. Then cheap, fast, and easy.
I like cheap, but mostly because I buy good stuff on sale, not ‘cheap’ food. Healthy is important. Easy is not as important as long as I have time to plan. I actually like to cook but of course have lazy days too!
I’d love cheap, healthy and easy. If after all those requirements are met and I can still get it done quickly then that would be great!
~Oops! I had to correct my e-mail addy~I like all of the above, but of course need to remind you to limit sugars and sweets! Dilute fruit juices with water and limit inbetween mealtime snacking! No baby bottle to bed, MILK can cause baby bottle caries/decay the teeth! Remember to wipe baby’s teeth, & help brush & floss kidlets teeth. Good habits start early?
Good-bye, gotta ~FLY~

I’m trying to focus on health right now but finding that very hard to do. I keep getting sidetracked by all the good deals that fit better with our budget. So I guess a mix of healthy and cheap would be my vote for now.
But of course… if I could have it all I would want it all!
healthy
cheap
easy
quick
in that order
I just found you. Cute blog! I like them all, but I am really interested in cheap and easy recipes.
I want it all! And I can’t wait to see what you share!
I want it all – but I’m usually finding it most likely that I need to spend more time to achieve the other goals. My site is pretty much based on balancing those categories through the eyes of faith – never an easy feat!
I want it all, and even found it…I was a no-cooking mama that generally made my kids cringe and fight me every night. I know this sounds like an advertisement, but I LOVE “Saving Dinner” by Leanne Ely. Her recipes are easy, almost always quick, normal food (not funky ingredients that I can’t find at an overseas commissary), surprisingly really tasty, and set up by seasons and weeks with each week’s shopping list at the front. For example, for the “summer season” none of the recipes require a hot oven, and winter recipes focus around dishes that require seasonal fruit and veg. In all, its the book I use the most, and next is my mom’s 1968 Betty Crocker book. Thanks for letting me share!
I say cheap and easy for sure. Also interested in under 30 minutes
I say cheap and easy for sure. Also interested in under 30 minutes
Ideally, all of the above…but I have to admit at this time in my life quick and cheap take definite priority over anything else.
I need recipes that are cheap.
I need recipes that take BASIC ingredients that I already purchase. I don’t like having to purchase items for a recipe that I will only use once.
I need recipes that feed a crowd. There are 7 of us now and the kids can eat.
I too want it all…in order of importance:
Healthy, easy, and then cheap
i need them to be under 30min and healthy. we don’t use a microwave.
I’d like it all too, especially frugal and quick!
Thanks!
~Liz
All of the above, but mostly low cost and healthy. I don’t mind spending extra time in the kitchen to save money or be healthy, but it’s hard to be healthy and save money.
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now….
name that tune
I can’t be the only one who falls into the boiling water category. I need to start out with easy recipes.
Cheap and healthy are my priorities. Dh is on a reduced carb diet, because of his diabetes, so we avoid meals that are carb-heavy, like pastas and rice. We do use some whole grains, but have found that focusing on good proteins and lots of veggies is what works to keep his blood sugar down.
I’d love to have some more recipes to add to our list!
I want it all.
HOWEVER, my preference would be healthy, even if it takes a little more time (mainly because I do enjoy cooking).
And unfortunately, I find that often cheap=processed/preserved/unhealthy.
Why is fresh and healthy and whole generally more expensive and more time consuming?
All of them! Please!
cheap is high on the list for me, however, as long as we aren’t looking at eye fillets and mangoes, it doesn’t all need to be mince and rice either.
For me, not taking too long is one of the biggest factors, however, as my timing sucks, I love meals I can cook in one pan (preferably my big electric one) or meals I can cook in one pan and just make pasta or rice or something with it, and would just as happily cook a meal that took two hours if I could put it all in together and be done with it, stirring every 10 minutes or something.
Health is important to a point, but we take issue with some of the current ideas of health, and as such as long as it isn’t all processed food, (chicken fingers and packet mash potato
) we’re pretty good with it.
For the record, we tried your no mushroom beef strog, my husband found it a little too simple (he is used to a rather flashy and flavorful diet with all sorts of foods I’ve never even heard of before meeting him), but then we tried the Mexican chicken skillet, and loved it! the sweetness of the corn and salsa was different, but sooooo yummy. I’m making it again next week.
My request (not specifically on your list…) not processed and full of flavor!! I try to stay in a budget with groceries but it’s the one area that I’m always willing to spend a little more. We never eat out, we pack all lunches, and we love fresh and delicious. I don’t do processed food. I am a made from scratch kind of girl.
I want it all!!!! I hate to cook and I am always trying to find new recipes to feed my husband and family. My son, daughter in law, and 2 1/2 yr. grandson also live with us. Thank you for your website, I LOVE IT!!!! Sherry
Healthy first and foremost, it’s so hard to find healthy recipes these days, especially since the vegetarian recipes out there are all FULL of fatty cheese! I’m not vegetarian but was looking for healthier alternatives
Thanks for asking us all!
Healthy and cheap, please. I would also like to see some butternut/acorn squash recipes. I’m already getting a lot out of the garden, and my recipes consist of soup and baked plain (or with sugar and butter for dessert).
I want it all, but…my two priorities are (1) time (I want meals that are super quick to make) and (2) nutrition (I’ll pay more to fuel my family’s bodies with unprocessed, healthful foods).
