I love that my Vita-Mix allows me to add lots of healthy foods into smoothies and they still taste like a dessert!
This Spinach Smoothie was a big hit with the kids.
- 1 apple
- 1 pear
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- 10 baby carrots
- 1/4 beet
- 1/4 cup flax seeds
- splash of milk

YUM! I love making fruit and veggie smoothies and just improvising with whatever ingredients I have at home. It’s much more fun when you don’t have to follow the recipe exactly!
Made this tonight and it was good! Didn’t have a beet, so the color was a little brown, but other than that, tasty and healthy.
I’ll try this. I usually put celery in fruit smoothies which adds a bit of water when blended in my VitaMix. Right now, I’m making lots of cranberry smoothies for my husband who has a UTI.
He loves them and says they help!
Yum! This looks delicious. Love the idea of sneaking veggies into a fruit smoothie.
Thank you!
This recipe looks good, can’t wait to try it once I move to phase 2 (or 3, maybe) of the South Beach Diet. I make a lot of spinach/fruit smoothies, but I have never tried beets or carrots in it. I don’t have a VitaMix and my Cuisinart, while doing a pretty good job of blending the spinach these last few years, is starting to whine and protest a bit. Btw, my daycare kids LOVE green smoothies! My own kids (10, 14, 16), not so much
handful of kale
frozen banana
a little pineapple
splash of milk
YUM!
We are big green smoothie lovers here too. I don’t really have a recipe I just add whatever I have on hand. Although I prefer tropical fruits in my green smoothies. I do not use yogurt though. Just fruits, spinach (or other green(s)) and a tablespoon of water to get it churning.
will this work in a regular blender? any suggestions?
It should. You might have trouble with carrots in a regular blender, it just depends.
