For the past several years we have either hosted or attended large Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. We usually find ourselves with 15 to 20 of our closest friends celebrating the holidays because we all live far away from family.
You would think that planning Christmas dinner for 20 extra people would be stressful, but actually I make it very simple. First, I ask everyone to bring a dish. No need for one person to slave in the kitchen for hours on Christmas day when everyone can do a little bit of work.
Second, I use paper plates. I even splurged on those nice red plastic kind that hold up pretty well under all that holiday delicious-ness.
Well, my days of red plates are over.
Last month I received these plates, cups, and napkins from Hefty.
Aren’t they so nice? I would like to recover my dining rooms chairs in that print! (Its a design from Waverly so why wouldn’t I love it?)I tried them out at Thanksgiving this year and they were perfect!
They held up well piled high with food and really added a nice touch to the meal. It didn’t even seem like we were eating on paper plates until it was time to clean up!
There are coupons available for you to print online for this cute tableware so you too can simplify your Christmas dinner.

Mine is mashed potatoes, stuffing, turkey, and gravy all mixed together…. or maybe it is Pioneer Woman’s chocolate cake, it’s a hard choice. Giveaway ends Friday, December 10, 2010.

Pecan pie would be tops on my list. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only times we have them at our house.
We used those exact plates this Thanksgiving–they were so pretty! They held up very well, as you said, even to my favorite, the squash stuffing that I make.
My family has a tradition of having standing rib roast for Christmas dinner. I love it, and obviously don’t eat it year round, so it’s probably my favorite holiday food.
My grandma’s stuffing. Yum!

Can you tell dessert is my favorite part of the meal?!
I would have to say that my favorite holiday food would have to be a toss up between mashed potatoes and homemade turkey gravy that my DH’s awesome grandma makes, the super delicious cranberry sauce she makes with pineapple, pecans and the occasional apple(to spice it up.), or my mom’s peanut butter fudge she makes during the holidays. It seems that no matter how hard I try I can never get these recipes up to par like these women do.
I love pumpkin pie and these plates and napkins are beautiful! Thanks!
Desserts – lots of desserts!
