Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

After years of thinking about making hummus I finally decided to make it last night. I cannot believe how easy it was to make and how much my kids LOVED it. Honestly, if I would have known it was that easy I would have been making it for years.

Serve hummus with toasted pita bread, tortilla chips, or veggies. Or try making your own pitas with this easy bread machine pita recipe!

  1. Looks yummy!! I, too, have never attempted hummus even though it’s one of my favorite things. I need to give it a whirl since we are in the throws of summer and I hate turning on the oven. =D

I love hummus! I rarely make it at home but you’ve inspired me to try it. Thanks for the great recipe!

  3. Lisanne says:

Yum! I make hummus all the time, but not with the peppers. I’ll have to try that.

  4. Linda says:

Can you make hummus with other kinds of beans? I am allergic to chicpeas, and or garbanzo beans.

  5. Angela says:

I would love to try this! Are the red peppers you use sweet or spicy? I have fresh red peppers in my garden and wonder if those would work.

I think as long as they were roasted it would work….

@ Linda I have had really yummy white bean hummus. I would google the recipe. But I used one can of cannellini beans, lemon, olive oil and salt. They tend to more of the italian side of things, But they are super good with pita chips. For the chips I cut the pita in wedges mix olive oil, italian seasonings ( basil and oregano) salt and brush over them. The sprinkle a little parm and back until toasted. SO good!

I tried this out, without the roasted red peppers, actually (I threw in a little paprika and cumin to add a little something). This is still absolutely a keeper. The whole house is hooked, now :)
